Nola, I suspect you have to rely on a backup to restore your project, but have asked Incomedia to look at your question just in case there is a solution I am not aware of.

Try to restore the backup of the project by following the stesp you find on http://help.websitex5.com/en/v14/pro/backup_ht.htm under "How to restore a backup copy of a project".
About the other issue can ypu please let me know which windows version do you use?
Does this happens only with one project or also with a new one?
