File browsing extremely slow after update

I believe after the last update a new file browser was introduced. Now it takes several minutes for the new browser to even show the disk structure of my system after it's being opened - every time I want to add a picture or some other item. Since I am working a lot with pictures this is pretty much unbearable, it is a constant interruption of my workflow. I am on Windows 10, the X5 Version is EVo 2022.2.6. Is there a way to improve that? I tried drag and drop from windows explorer, but this doesn't work either. Am I doing something wrong or is the new browser just crap?

Hello Michael
It would be indeed very interesting to understand exactly what is causing the slowness and what changed for you after the update. If I understand correctly:
1_ Since the new File selection window was added, did it ever work fine for you? Did the slowness start after another update or did it start since the new File selection window was added?
2_ Do you have many network or external drives in use?
3_ If instead of clicking on the folder icon to open the File Selection window, you do the same while holding down the left CTRL key, you should get the old window instead. Does that work for you?

Hello Stefano,
thank you for your reply. To answer your questions:
1_ Since the new File selection window was added, did it ever work fine for you? Did the slowness start after another update or did it start since the new File selection window was added?
It did start when the new file browser was introduced.
2_ Do you have many network or external drives in use?
I have 3 drives from another computer connected. There is also the AVM FRITZ!Mediaserver from my Fritzbox, which is unused.
3_ If instead of clicking on the folder icon to open the File Selection window, you do the same while holding down the left CTRL key, you should get the old window instead. Does that work for you?
Like a charm, that is a lifesaving tip. It reacts instanly, thank you for that.
I hope you get the new browser fixed soon.
Michael
Hello Michael
One quick test, if possible for you.
Can you try and disconnect all of the network drives and media servers you have? Just temporarily. Then, restart the software. Is the speed still an issue?

Hello Stefano,
I come back about the big problem with the new brother (https://helpcenter.websitex5.com/it/post/252014 etc... after having spent hours and hours and finally find a solution between users and done every actions to finally acceed to our external networks...
...and I CONFIRM the extremely slow of it
- with CRTL + Open, we open the windows browser BUT pdf files don't appear!!!!!!
- without CRTL, we open WX5 brother but it need 1 minute to display 1 level of the external network.
After 35 minutes, I acceed to my PDF file.
REALLY, I'm very very very PATIENT, BUT INCOMEDIA makes his customers in a VERY VERY BIG S**T TO WORK.
Please do something to stop this new browser because our customers who bought the software to manage their project see that the software is really a nightmare and want a reimbursement!
Please stop stinging on a browser that no one asked, who does not like anyone and who does not work!
Sorry for the my anger but it's enough now to play with your professionnal customers who create projects for professional customers!
Sincerely,
Danielle
In January 2022 I bought a new inexpensive notebook (ASUS VivoBook 17 with 17 inch monitor and SSD drive, no other drives, USB stick if required) for 499 euros with Windows 11.
If I select text in the text object and want to link it to a PDF file, I click on the link symbol and the WebSite X5 Explorer opens quickly. I select my folder and highlight the PFP file, then I click OK and I can preview the result.
In the preview I click on the link to the PDF file and a window opens within the page and shows the contents of the PDF file.
I don't have long waiting times, maybe it's because it's not an old notebook and I don't have a large number of drives or networks connected.
Daniel, do you work with an external network?
If not, I agree with you, it's perfect but now, a lot of firms works in netxork and it's the reason why we have an inextricable issue.
See here https://helpcenter.websitex5.com/it/post/252014 and you'll understand my (our) anger.
Regards,
Daniel
I only have an Intenso USB stick as an external drive for testing.
The USB stick works with the WebSite X5 Explorer.
I also found an old external hard drive, WebSite X5 Explorer works with it too.
Drive C: notebook hard drive
Drive D: external hard drive
Drive E: USB stick
Drive D: external hard drive with opened folder showing photos.
I don't have a network with 2 or more computers, other forum users would have to test that.
