I am using Website X5 Version 8.0.16. My website host has changed his server type and asked me to change my upload to TLS/SSL but in Version 8.0.16 I dont see an option to change server type. How do I change server type?

Hello Craig,

Unfortunately version 8 does not offer the option of transferring files over TLS/SSL  -  this was introduced from version 9 onwards.

If your webhost can no longer support plain FTP transfers then you would either have to change to a host who can, or alternatively upgrade your WebSite X5 project to a newer version.

As an existing WebSite X5 user you may be entitled to special offers on upgrades:

There is a third possibility, however...  you could export your project to disk in Step 5, then use an FTP client like FileZilla to transfer the project files to the web using a secured connection:

https://filezilla-project.org/

It is a bit of a hassle to have to do that each and every time you update your project though!

Kind regards,

Paul

Hi Paul,

Thanks for the reply. Having already paid for web hosting for this year and my host telling me he was moving to a more secure service I don't really want to change host. They have been hosting website for several years without any problems. Budgets are tight for buying a new package (no offers available when I clicked on your link) and would it involve much work moving website to new version? Not sure what to do at this point as my website hasn't been updated now for over a week.

Hello Craig,

Yuo will need to ask the users of the community if they can convert the project for you to be opened in Version 11 since it cannot be imported directly.

The alternative is like Paul explained to export to disk the HTML files and then upload them with an external FTP client like filezilla so you can use the tls/ssl function.

Many thanks!
