Hi,
I was using the program on a windows Vista computer without any issues. I upgraded my computer and I am now running windows 10. I exported the company file and dropped it into the directory on the new computer after installing the program. When I open it I am able to see my web lay out like I did before and everything looks great.
The issue is when I make changes of any type and try and save it or upload it I get the following error every time.
Thanks for all the help

I am running version 10 of websitex5. I was using the same version on both computers
Hi Joe,
I am very sorry for this inconvenience. Unfortunately, since the release of the newer versions we do not offer direct technical support for v10 anymore, as you can see from this official post: https://helpcenter.websitex5.com/pl/post/154824 I am very sorry about that.
Don't worry, this doesn't mean you can't get any help at all: please keep this post as public, so the other users and the moderator can reply and help you find a solution.
Thank you. Kind regards.
Joe, did you copy the contents of the project directory, or did you export the project, copy the iwzip to the new PC and import it to re-create the project.
I have found exporting and importing far more reliable when transferring to a new PC.
If the problem exists in spite of this proceedure, please advise and we'll start investigating dependencies (eg C++ and .net libraries). I am not aware of any reason why WX5 v10 should not run reliable on Win10. I am on Win10 and run V9 through to V14 (although I can reel of a multitude of reasons why you should upgrade to V14)

I exported and imported through the program itself. I thought you left a post on how to export the template I am using but I cant seem to find it. I did not design the website in the beginning and I think the designer might have made a custom template but not sure. If you want I can take screen shots of how the website should look when uploaded with v10 and then upload it using v14 and take a screen shot and show you them.
Thanks for the help
Joe, I have found that if I import and do not go anywhere near any template options (ie import and immediately preview) then simply mess with map and page options I have few issues.
Is this the post you were looking for? Do you still have access to the V10 Vista PC??

In V14 you could try exporting the project as the first step after importing it, and then immediately import it again (it will not overwrite your project and it sometimes has a "cleansing" effect). You should also note that v14 does not like empty rows or columns of cells, so these should be deleted. If empty cells remain, drop an empty object into them (eg text).
For what it's worth, Incomedia do not support V10, but they do support users trying to bring V10 projects into V14
Please let us know of your successes or failures.

Sorry these messages should be in my template question.
Joe, I am not sure what to advise because I am no longer sure what we need to fix. In your earliest post you said you were running V10 on both PC's - is this the case?
If so, is the imported iwzip on the Win10 PC running V10 unstable - or only when you import to V14?
If you are running V10 on the Win 10 PC can I assume the template comes across correctly?
And one last question (for now)
If you are running WX5 V14 and importing the project, have you left it set as a desktop site (recommended), or are you trying to make it responsive (not recommended until the project is tweaked and stable in V14, and then it can be made responsive)?

Esahc,
To clearify my new computer running windows 10 has V14 of Websitex on it. My old computer running Vista has V10 on it. I tried to bring V10 to the new computer but got error's messages becasue I couldnt find my registration key so I bought a copy of V14for the new computer and installed it. The program now runs without any errors except it makes a mess of my website.
If you want i can take pictires of how the website should look and how it looks after V14 is used to do updates.
I still have my old computer running V10 and have access to it.
I would like to be able to get V14 running right if possible. If it's not possible to fix the issue then I could always ghost the HDD from the vista computer to a external HDD and use that and just keep running V10 but would prefer to have the newest V14 without issues.
Thanks
Joe
Joe, yes, please provide screen shots of difficulties you are having. But can you also provide a link to your existing site, and if possible, can you upload the V14 site to a folder so we can see issues and hopefully offer suggestions?
(when I am recreating a site I create a new folder in the public_html folder, then I can simply go to www.mydomain.com/new)
I am not surprised that some things are not as you wanted in V14, it is a big jump from V10. However, V14 will ultimately produce a better site and the tools will offer more flexibility (not to mention responsive design) - it just requires a bit of tweeking.

Here is a link to the site, it has been set up by V10 and is how we are used to it.

I am not sure how to do the step you asked for next. Once you have seen the current site I will upload using V14 and let you know once it is up
Joe, the simplest way I have found is to export the website to disk then use Filezilla (or similar), connect to your host, browse to public_html directory, right click, create directory and then copy all files to it.
If it's all too hard, a couple of screen shots of what V14 looks like would probably be sufficient now we can compare with the original.
I would imagine that your header and page content looks about right but your vertical menus leave a little to be desired. Possibly also you have lost your cell styles on one or 2 pages.

Esahc, Chnages have now been made using V14 and you can see how it is screwed up. I have screen shots both ways as well. I will leave it in this state for about 12 hours and hopefully you will get a chance to look at it
Thanks for all your help
Joe
Joe, it "appears" you have selected a template and lost your original layout.
Try to import again (it will not over write, just create a second copy), and if you don't touch change template or custom template management, you site SHOULD look extremely similar in V14 (all of my V10 sites came across with the original template in tact).
If the header and layout does get altered, we can recreate it from your old site, but it would be a lot easier if the starting point was much closer to the original (vertical menu's etc)

Ok I will export it again from V10 and then import it into V14 and just make a change to an item in our catelog without going anywhwere near the template section and see if that works
You shouldn't have to export the project again, the one you used to import to V14 should be fine. . .
If that fails (it could be picking up a template name that now has a different template attached), on V10 export the template and copy it across and import it.
This is from V10 help
How to work with the templates
You can export a project's template so that you can use it on another computer, or so it can be used by other people.
To export a template:
§Open the Template selection window, select the template and click on the Export... button: a .IWTLP file is created in the specified export folder.
§Copy this .IWTPL file to the computer on which you want to import the template.
To import a template that has been exported with WebSite X5:
§Open the Template selection window on the second computer and click on the Import... button: select the .IWTPL file of the file to be imported.
§The imported template will be added to the list of custom templates.
All will be well :-)

I did export the whole project and reimport it and it is now closer. Changes I made to our Catologue and they now show up. The front page is still wrong.
Sorry to be such a pain as I have never worked with websites before but I have computer knowledge so I have been appointed the one to fix this problem.
If I have to export the template from V10 how do I know which template is being used for our website, is there a way to tell.
Website is up again if you want to see what it look likes now.

Thanks
That's nothing like your original :-)
Go to the vista machine, crank up WX5, open the project then click on template selection.
One of then will look like it is for your site. Highlight it and export.
If you are successful, when imported in V14 and selected, the layout should be very similar to your old site with a header that is almost identical.

Thanks. I went into V10 and had to dulplicate whatI believe is the correct template then I was able to export it. I did that. The new computer is not with me right now and I do not have access to it as it is currently not connected to the internet. I will have to wait till tomorrow to import it and see if that helps.
Once I import it to V14 and see if on the custom templates how do I get that to be my template for the website.
Thanks
Joe
In the custom template management area, there is an option to import (although I've never used it :-)
Good luck. I look forward to a post here so I know to look at your site again.

I uploaded the template and was able to use it. It made the web site look closer but still not right. It appears now that the header and footer are missing plus one the side where there are buttons for Home or Catelog ect is missing
I had ti change it back using V10 again so some customers could use it for a bit. Let me know when your on line and I will do it again using V14.
Is there a way we can connect directly
Joe
G'day Joe
Public holiday here today, so entertaining friends. My website is www.esahc.com, and all contact details are there. Send an email, not sure of our time zone differences, but we will sort something out
