I wish to include a link to an external URL in a Text object. Unfortunately, the Add Link button in the tool bar above the open Text object is grayed out and I am unable, therefore, to use it.

How do I proceed?

Hello Michael,

To create a link in the Text Object you first need to highlight/select the text with your mouse (as if you were about to copy/paste it), as shown in the screenshot below:

The link option will then become available to you on the editing toolbar.

Kind regards,

Paul

Thanks for your prompt reply, Paul.

I was able to add a link, but when I click on the link a blank page opens instead of the target. The correct URL shows up at the top left of the blank page, but nothing else.

Waht do I need to do to get the target page downloaded?

It could depend on the content you are linking to, and the 'Action' you set for this particular link in WebSite X5.

What are your settings as in the screen depicted below?

In certain circumstances attempting to open an external site in a ShowBox window will fail (for various technical reasons).

Opening a link in the 'same window' and in a 'new window' should always work, regardless of the link content.

If you can provide more detail then we can help further (as in the link options you are using and URL of the external site).
