Hello,
Can USERS sort a page that shows a catalog by category - test page at https://www.ex-l-ence.com/books.html shows three products (books) two are romance and one is fantasy - if all our books were on a single page, in the catalog, that would be nice and is doable - but a bit of work... What would make the work more worthwhile is if the user could then specify which category of products would be displayed - can that be done?
Thanks.
All the best.
Robert.

... I do realise that I could have a little 'menu' at the top of the page and have seperate product catalogs for each category and use anchors (with the menu) to navigate - but that is not very elegant.
And again :
What is it, that causes that the blog cannot be used for this?
It has the ability to show all categories in a kind of right-menu - and by clicking on one of the categories all items for that category is filtered. The right menu with the categories is still shown and it will be possible to click another category. And it is also possible to to tag items with the authors ( name ) and by clicking a tag all items will be filtered on that author. And still an extra tag can be used.
All items can be presented with text and images and eventually also with slideshow and eventually with a video - and links.
And the blog can be filtered by the built-in search.
And you can specify numbers of items to show on each page, when paging is used.

Hi John S.
The answer to your question "What is it, that causes that the blog cannot be used for this?" is that I simply haven't looked at it yet - :)
From what you say, it sounds like a great solution.
However, I just want to check - if I did use the blog, could I call it 'books' and have it in the top menu and when people clicked into the page would it look the same as the rest of the site - if the answers are yes, then it could well be the way forward for me.
Thanks,
Robert.
Hi. Excellent solution proposed by John. Or you could use the Text Object to enable the Tabs inside it (you'll find them in the lower left corner when you are in the Text Object content). You will get a result like the one shown here on the home page, immediately below the slideshow of scrolling photos at the top (see screenshot):
http://www.bozzasito001.altervista.org/tabswithcategory01/
Click on each tab with the Category name and then click on the books to open the link with the related description
screenshot...
P.S. the description of the books does not exist, a random page will open, but the links can be customized

Hello Giuseppe,
I like your tabs idea but I can't see where you mean when you say " in the lower left corner when you are in the Text Object content" ???
Can you explain in more detail, please.
Thanks,
Robert.
see the screenshot but I doubt that with the EVO version this function is not available, I use the PRO version...

Hello Giuseppe,
Think I see - I found the page: https://guide.websitex5.com/en/support/solutions/articles/44000819441-how-to-display-text-in-tabs and after looking at my site for a few minutes and not seeing the settings button, I noticed that the article mentions "Compatibility - WebSite X5 Pro" - and I'm running EVO.
That's a shame - not sure that an upgarde to Pro is worthwhile for just that one feature.
Thanks
Robert.
Robert, the extra features of the PRO version are many compared to the EVo, there is not only the extra feature of the Cards in the Text Object but there are many others.
The decision must be yours, based on what you want to accomplish with your website.
Best regards
Hello Robert
I have a testsite with a testblog here : http://bramminginfo.dk/
In the head-menu choose : "Det Sker". This also shows you that the blog can be integrated in your site and your menu with a text vy your choice.
The first you see is a kind of welcome page :
Click on Evens - this will select all items in the category "Events"
Click on test - this will select all items in the category "test"
Click on "Alle kategorier" - this will select all categories.
When you have clicked "Alle kategorier" you should see this :
I have marked the tags. Categories is tags. And author ( could be Writer ) is tag. And you could have an extra tag if wanted.
Try click the "JMS" tag - and you will see the items being filtered on author/writer.
My example is not the best example, but I think you can imagine that every item could be a book.
The presentation of items can be better than in my example. Try for every item to click on "Læs mere" - this could be the presentation of a book.
I think the blog is included in the EVO version.
I have only 4 items/books in my test.
If I had more than I have specified for one page, it would be showed still on one page but then with a paging-option.
It can be specified how many items/books to have in a column - as you see I have chosen 2.
It can also be chosen how many rows on a "page".
I think you should try using the blog - you can always delete it if you don't like it.

Hi John S.
I didn't like the fact that the Caption is limited to so few characters. Also, how did you get a border around each item, I couldn't see a setting to do that (I'm using EVO).
Thanks,
Robert.
Hello Robert
At the moment I don't have access to the X5 software and therefore I cannot give a screenshot as example.
Maybe some other user can show you how. I think the blog is the same in EVO and in PRO.
There is a lot of settings for the items : Height, where to place the image and so.
Maybe there is some of the users that can show you a blog that is more well-designed than my example ( should be easy ) and has more items for a category, so you could see the paging in action.
But the best way to get to know the blog, is to experience it.
I have found some users blogs :
http://www.thetahealth.co.za/blog/
http://www.gdpr-awareness.eu/blog/index.php
http://stossbooks.com/blog/index.php
https://mybetterlifecoaching.uk/blog/
http://www.taborda.eu/blog/index.php
Some of the blogs is on servers with, what seems to be limited bandwith, but you can see the sites to get inspiration, and to see some of the possibilities.
