I have not tested but the guide tels me this:

The comments for the goods are not a forum but only purely responsible for comments and reviews. So like Amazon where half a forum is built in, there is not in WSX5.

I just tested myself, if there is a shop comment you can set to receive an e-mail when a comment has made.
Also the email adres is mandatory, so it needs to be filled in by customer always.
I got a mail back with the customer email adres in it, also it is visible in the admin panel.
If you don't have it maybe customer filled in a fake email or so? (i need to test that)
But here is how it looks when i made a test;
You can do the same, you can remove the comment always after the test

So i don't understand why you won't see this, please test yourself, and make a prtscrn.
It is importand too use an email adres in x5 step5 of your own domain so an email adres from the domain where you have your website also hosted, maybe that can be an issue?
check if this is the case else, change and test again
