I have removed several videos from my webpages and replaced them with vimeo links but the pages are not updating when I upload them to the internet. I have tried the f5 button and i am not part one.com like others who have this problem. My website is https://cre8income4life.com/

Are you able to help me please?

Your browser uses cache and then it can help using F5 or Ctrl+F5.

This will normally help.

Some pages can be cached by your ISP and then it can take some time before a cached page is "updated" - but it will be updated.

Maybe use the entire procedure so that the changed content is also displayed in the browser.

1) In WebSiteX5, click Preview while holding down the left Ctrl key and wait for the progress bar to scroll all the way through.

2) Then export the entire website with WebSiteX5 and then press the F5 key in the browser while holding down the left Ctrl key.

3) If necessary, delete the page or file that is not updated in the FTP window of WebSiteX5 and then export it again.

If nothing helps, then it may be a current server problem with the web host, so try again later.

Thank you for both of answers.

Unfortunately John's abbreviated answer didn't work so started Daniel's entire process, step 1 worked but not step 2.

I couldn't delete the page because it was the home page, where the video that I am replacing is placed. Instead I deleted  all content except the header on the home page again Step 1 worked but not step 2.

I first tried replacing the video on 22/3/24, would the ISP have updated the cache in that period?

Thanks

If you delete the index.html (homepage) file via the FTP window, this index.html will be removed from the web space and an error should occur in the browser as the homepage is now missing.

If there is no error and the homepage is displayed, then the server or browser - for whatever reason - would have to use the index.html file from its cache.

FTP window:

At WebSiteX5 under ...

5 Export > Export the website to the Internet

... click on the symbol on the right under “Target directory” and the FTP window opens. Here, highlight the index.html file and click on the red X at the top.

Hello Graeme,
what pages are affected by this? I would like to check how they are displayed on my end, to confirm whether or not I see the updated version, in which case the most likely scenario is indeed a cache issue as John and Daniel have mentioned.
I have checked the homepage but it only has one YouTube video.

Hi Eric, I think what you are seeing is two steps behind as I had a youtube video but it should be a vimeo video now.

This is the old video.

Thanks Daniel, I have done that and it comes up with an even older version of the webpage. As I had cleared the cache on the browser before I did this it must be the server. I now have to workout how to contact the server because the domain name is hosted by incomedia.

Hello Graeme,
if I look at the content of your website's destination folder, there are several files that, judging by their names, are alternate versions of the same page, with earlier upload dates:

Have you manually changed the file names for some of the pages in the Page Property settings?
Or perhaps renamed or deleted and recreated some of the pages with these new names?

I believe this is causing overlaps.
To confirm this, I would ask you to try something.
I have created an empty subfolder called "test", please open the destination folder and double click in it to move into it, and press ok.

You should not see the destination folder as /public_html/test, and the URL of the website should also contain /test at the end
Export the project choosing the Export all website files, and check the resulting version to see the content of the pages.

Thank you to both of you.

Eric I have done as you suggested and exported the files to the test folder and it comes up with this message when I try and display it in the browser.

but the files are definitely there as below.

What do you want me to do now?

Yes, I  have manually changed the file names for some of the pages in the Page Property settings and obviously caused this issue.

I can't understand why there is no index page in test directory or index.php, isn't that automatic?

Hello Graeme,
can you export the website locally as IWZIP in Step 5 - Export, choosing the option to export the project?
This way I can take a direct look at what settings have been used for the website's pages.
You can upload the IWZIP file on WeTransfer.com and send the download link at sales @ incomedia.eu (without the spaces).

Hello Graeme,
yes, you should not change the file name for the homepage, as the website is expected to have an index.html or index.php (the extension is usually automatically set depending on the content of the page).
