I set up MySQL database on a hosting service. The service uses PHP 8.2 and MySQL 5.7x. I set up a database in the control panel of the hosting service. When I try to export my website to the hosting service I get a error notice that Website x5 can't connect to the database. Is there something in the setup in Website X5 Pro that I didn't do that is keeping the database from connecting?
Best regards,
Kurt H.

In WebSiteX5 the database access data must be entered under ...
5 Export > Export the website to the Internet / Parameters
____/ Data management /____
The host name is usually “localhost”, but it can also be something else.
The other information is specified when the database is created in the customer area.

Hi (again) Daniel,
I forgot to mention that I have put all of that information in the form in that window. I noticed that yours has LocalHost as the Host Name. I have service provider. Does that make a difference? I put in the information that was given to me, but perhaps I made an error.
Best regards,
Kurt H.
Specifying “localhost” as the hostname is the standard entry for many web hosting providers, but there are also some web hosting providers that require a different entry.
If necessary, check the web hosting provider's FAQ, help, or support pages to see if the hostname is different.
The database access data is individual, so other Website X5 users cannot check anything.
If the password has a spelling error, reassign it and write it down carefully.
Hello:
1) When you created the database on your server, did you activate all permissions?
2) Possible names for the "hostname"; localhost, sitename.com or www.sitename.com (or whatever extension you have).
3) In the Database name and the added user, make sure that the previous prefix is not missing: In my case it is; espaci69_ followed by the name of the database and the user with write and delete privileges.
Regards.

Hi Daniel,
After responding to your first reply inwhich you attached the screengrab showing the "localhost" as your host name, I went back and consulted with my hosting service only to find out that the technician to whom I had previously spoke had not given me the entire hosting name to enter into the dialog box (or somehow I did not hear everything he had me enter. But that is now corrected and I have an established database that appears to work. I can access the Website X5 Pro cpanel and nearly everything works except when I tried to do the Website Test. I tried to send an email to myself and nothing sent. All listed items above the email have a green "PASS" next to them so I am sure that everything is set up correctly. Do you have any ideas what may be wrong? Maybe there is some setting I need to review to make sure that it coordinates with the cpanel.
Thank you so much for all of your help, I am this much further along because of it.
Best regards,
Kurt H.
Several things are important when sending emails via the contact form or placing orders in the shop.
In WebSiteX5 under ...
5 Export > Export the website to the Internet / Parameters
___/ Email /
... this information is important:
1) A domain email address must be specified, e.g. contact(at)mywebsite.com - replace (at) with @.
2) The “script type for sending emails” depends on the web host. Today, for security reasons, “SMTP authentication” is mostly required.
3) Some web hosts require you to uncheck the box below for...
[_] Allow sending from alternative senders
.

Hi Daniel,
I worked with my hosting service to set up the email perameters, but when I sent a test email to myself from the cpanel nothing showed up in my inbox. This is so frustrating. I am sure it is something simple that needs to be changed but figuring it out is the problem.
Best regards,
Kurt H.
I always test sending emails via a contact form on the website or with the shop, which I export to the Internet.
In addition to the domain email address, I also have an email address from a mail provider and can therefore test what visitors and customers receive as email and what I receive as email.

Hi Daniel,
Because I changed the email parameters in the FTP settings the email does not work on the website, right now.
To make sure I understood the FTP email parameters that you indicated in your attached image, I'll indicate what setting I made, with the help of my hosting service:
Email Script Type : Authenticated SMTP
SMTP Address: My hosting service came me an url that corresponds to their service; it is their web address with additional letters and numbers
Encryption Mode: TLS
User Name: The email address that we use for our site
Port: 578 (this is the port number the hosting service provided)
Password: This is the password of the email address that we use for our site
Sender's Email Address: This again is the email address that we use for our site (however, in your image you show ***)
Allow sending from alternate senders: this box is left unchecked
From what I have described are these the settings I should have in my FTP email settings?
Best regards,
Kurt H.
Since the information varies from web hosting provider to web hosting provider, you must have the information confirmed by the web hosting provider's support.
However, as a customer you also have to think a little bit, because support employees can also make mistakes.
On 2 points:
A) Encryption mode: TLS
This depends on the web hosting provider whether TLS is correct or another setting.
B) Sender's email address:
An email address must be entered here, which was created by the customer as an email address in the customer area of the web hosting provider. This email address contains the domain name of the domains managed by the web hosting provider.
Example:
Domain: mywebsite.com
Email address: contact(at)mywebsite.com
The (at) in the email address is only because otherwise the forum software will turn the email address into ***. So of course write the (at) as @.
Also mention the name of the web hosting provider, perhaps there are users of WebSiteX5 who are with the same web hosting provider and can give tips.

Hi Daniel,
Thanks for the information. I will contact the hosting service again and go over the settings to see that they are correct. Each bit of information helps me get there. Thanks again.
Best regards,
Kurt H.
