Synchronising Data on Two Computers with the same X5 Programme

For several years I have used the excellent X5 programme on my desk top to keep my website up to date. To enable me to continue to keep the website up to date when I am away from home I have now installed the programme on my lap top. After updating the web site from the lap top how do I ensure that the information in the desk top is brought up to date? How do I keep the data in two computers synchronised?

Synchronising Two Computers an Example

This example works but is not slick.

Does any one have a slicker way of synchronising the X5 programmes in two separate computers?

  1. On lap top computer open X5 programme and add for example a photograph to a page.
  2. Export Step 5. Upload to internet modified files.
  3. Export Step 5. Optimise and batch to folder in “destination directory”
  4. Check that photograph is on the website and in the folder “destination directory” in the lap top.
  5. In that folder the photograph appears twice once in a “File Folder” and also in a “programme.iwp”
  1. Copy the whole folder from the  “destination directory”,  to memory stick
  2. Copy the whole folder from the “destination directory, from memory sick to desk top computer.
  1. On desk top computer check that the photograph is in the folder from the “destination directory”.
  2. It is in both a “File Folder” and also in a “programme.iwp”
  3. Open “programme.iwp” and click save.
  4. Open X5 programme from the short cut on the desk top computer screen, the photograph is there!

To sum up

The key to keeping the X5 programmes the same in each computer seems to be transferring the folder in “destination directory”, opening up the “programme.iwp” in the other computer and then saving it.

Good morning J!
Well I have nothing to add. I just wish to confirm your theory, this is the only way to synchronize your project on two different computers. You need to move your project on your second computer (and vice versa) every time you change something in it.
