Duplicate changes saved to original site

Hello, When I do some major changes to my website, I use to create "duplicate" and test all the new changes on it - it was with E 9 absolutely without problem. I wanted to do the same with E 10, and I have found out, that all the changes made in "duplicate" are automatically saved to the live original site. Very frustrating. I got myself to a serious problem the other day, thought first that I have done something wrong, BUT today I tested it again - and the changes from the duplicate project were automatically saved to live original site. I tried to duplicate it but after I modified the duplicated project and then I opened the original project it was still the same and it had not the changes made in the duplicated version.
Can you please tell me exactly how you did it so I can try to duplicate the issue?

I have tried today again and found out, that the problem is that the position of the duplicated project moves to the first position in the raw after I save the changes and come out of it. E 9 used to retained the position of the duplicate project always as the second in the raw..
I changed the duplicate project name significantly to distuinguish it from the original one to avoid confusion.
