How to upload a local mp3 file as soundtrack to slide show  en

I am trying to create new web site using Evolution 10, and I cannot figure out why the sound track I wish to add in a classical slide show won’t work. The slide show works perfectly well with the pictures, but I just cannot get the sound to work. In Gallery Object/Soundtrack I chose the mp3 music file on my computer, I click on “OK” and  “Save” and finally “Preview”. The slide show starts, but … no sound. I have had no such problem with the two sites I made earlier using Evolution 9, and I guess there is a very simple solution to my problem now. So please tell me: What is it that I am doing wrong this time?

Hello Christer,

The answer lies in the change in the preview browser in version 10 which uses Chromium, whereas earlier versions used Internet Explorer.  There have also been changes in the way Flash content is handled.  These are not backward steps, but are to do with the move towards HTML5.

You can study this section in the help file for detailed information as to how WebSite X5 handles media files:

In short, if you are using MP3 file format then I recommed that you install the Flash plugin for Chromium in the preview browser.  You may also wish to install the Windows Media Player plugin at the same time:

However, the best solution of all is to convert your media files to MP4 / M4A format with H.264 video encoding and AAC audio encoding.  This is as per Incomedia's official recommendation, and will ensure maximum compatibility across a wide range of end user devices.

Kind regards,

Paul
