I have  a page containing 10 text elements. Each text element contains a.e. "1941 1942 1943 1944 1945 1946 1947 1948 1949 1950". Used as links (link option i text object) to pdf files. I am not using "pdf widget in expert tab of html object".

I have tried to change a link (link option i text object) to another file, exported the project to a new folder on harddisk, tested and the link show the old file.

I have tried to delete the links refering to the duplicated files, exported again, some of the pdf files disapear in the "files folder" but some are stil there widthout any reference in the project.

The duplicated files looks a.e. "1918_xj35i7m4.pdf", should been "1918.pdf". Both files are in "files folder", the link points to "1918.pdf".

How do I do "housekeeping", cleaning up the project ?

My X5 is a 10.1.6.50 version

I have done some more testing. Deleted files are not always removed from filelis.

Changed filereferences are not changed. 

Is it possible to do "housekeeping" or reference cleanup in the program ?

Thanks for your patience with me, I am a newbie to webpages, pardon my spelling, I am danish with grey hair and a birthcertificate with yellow edges.

The files inside my host are the same as on my pc. I have tried to delete all files on my host and then using the X5 ftp "Export to internet". The files in the host are equal to files on my pc using the X5 "Export to disk". The folders contain deleted pages, deleted files, files with odd extensions and the right files.

When I am online on the homepage via IE8 or Firefox and click on a link on a page, the files with odd extensions are displayed.

I have tried to make the project from scratch once more and everything works fine, only when I change link file reference or delete pages things go wrong and deleted pages, deleted files etc. are tranfered when the host is updated via X5 ftp "Export to internet".

System: X5 evolution 10.1.6.50 version, MS Windows 7 32bit, .net framework 4.5.1

After a good nights sleep I reviewew the history of my project.

Project1 was created with  "X5 Home 10 edition". No errors.

Ran out of accessaries and updated to "X5 Evolution 10 edition".

Imported project1 into "X5 Evo" and then the problems with duplicated files etc. poped up.

Created project1 as a new project in "X5 Evo" avoiding any form of cut and paste etc.

Tested deleting pages, deleting links, adding pages, adding links, changed links etc. Tested all functions in "X5 Evo". Did automated and manual upload to the host.

Absolutely no errors, no flaws. The files for upload was excactly as they should be.

As long as I don't import "X5 Home 10 edition" project files into "X5 Evolution 10 edition" everything works fine.

One question remains: why did the errors pop up after importing a "X5 Home" project into "X5 Evo". Incompability between "X5 Home" and "X5 Evo" internal file system ?

I am very happy with the X5 tool, really a rapid development tool, easy to lean, easy to use, all needed accessories included, no html errors to find. A very, very fine product.

Problem solved so far, I keep the project files apart.

PS.

The files produced by function "Export homepage to disk" must be equal to those produced by function "Export homepage to internet" as they are ment for manual upload.
