Missing Images in Evo10  en

Hi

I've recently upgraded from v9 to 10 and had a serious loss of images on the first upload. I have just completed reloading these in stages but on the final upload I find that I have lost some more images. They are visible in Preview but are not now on the website and they had been before. The changes I made have uploaded and are visible on the website so it's not a cache issue.  I didn't see any errors on upload but in any case why does it remove a file which was previously uploaded in v10 and visible on the website.

I'm aware of a similar issue in Evo9 and followed some posts on it but couldn't see whether it was resolved. I cannot find any posts on the same issue in 10. Before making further changes and risking losing more I would appreciate advice on inserting and uploading images.

The missing images (jpg) are inserted in text. I'm using Evo10.1.12.57 on Windows 7. Browser is Firefox.

Thank you

Hello Alfie,

It could directly depend on the project in version 9 where the images could have been moved from the original location and once imported these could no longer be found.

From Version 10 above the program copies them in the internal library to avoid this type of issue since in Version 9 the images needed to be kept always in the same location from where they have been taken.

Many thanks!

Thanks.

You are saying that copies of image files are held internally within version 10 which would avoid the image generation error problem which seemed to exist in previous versions. So once an image is uploaded in v10 it should remain, regardless of where the original was stored or moved to a new folder or even removed from the computer.

I accept there is a possibility the missing image had disappeared along with others when I upgraded from 9 and I had overlooked it but I still cannot understand why the image appears in Preview but is not uploading to the website. Is there a way to upload a single image or should I just do another upload of modified files?

Thank you

Hello Alfie,

Yes in Version 10 it has been introduced the internal library function to avoid these issues.

About the fact the images where visible in the preview this happens because the preview fils are not always refreshed and it could keep in memory the image when it was reachable and once the image has been moved or renamed the program could not find it but in the preview there was still the old preview file.

To be sure all is working correctly in the preview you need to reload it completely by pressing CTRL while starting it so all files are generated again and if something is missing it is shown immediatly.

Many thanks!

Sorry but I'm unclear about this.

When should I press CTRL - at the same time as pressing NEXT on the Project Selection page, which is when the files appear to be generated, or when clicking on Preview?

Thank you.

Hello Alfie,

You hold the 'CTRL' key down whilst clicking on Preview.

This wipes any old data from the Preview cache, and forces X5 to collate all project files afresh, as it stands at that precise moment in time.

You can do this as often as you like, it doesn't do any harm.  It's slower than a normal preview, but it can be useful sometimes to rule out cache issues.

Kind regards,

Paul

Thank you.

I've done that and have now uploaded the project again; everything appears to be ok.

We live and learn.
