Importing project returns "XML-document with error statement"  en

I use WebsiteX5 Pro 11 on a windows7 PC. The url is www.rcdiabolos.be.

I have installed the software on a second laptop running under windows10.

I exported the project via menu 5 onto a USB stick. I have imported the project and can select it in the window "select a project".

When going to the next step to open the project I get an error message :

"An error has occured while deleting the project"

"The XML-document (3411,49) contains an error"

How can I fix this? Or is there another way of transferring my project to the second PC?

Hello Jean-Pierre,

In the first instance try the export again, but this time choose an alternative medium for the transfer (other than the USB stick).

Also, if you have previously elected to include a copy of the WebSite X5 preview files and backup files, then deselect these options before attempting the export again.

Kind regards,

Paul

Hello Paul,

Thank you for your advice.

This time I did not include the preview nor back-up files and exported the project.

I transferred using "wetransfer" and downloaded the project on the other laptop.

I reinstalled WebsiteX5 first.

Unfortunately I got the same result as before after importing the project and starting it up in WSX5.

Is there an option to use the FTP module in WSX5 to retrieve the project directly from the hostserver?

Kind regards,

JP

No, there is no such option within WebSite X5.

If you can open and edit your WebSite X5 project normally (on the Windows 7 PC), and the error message appears only after importing the project to the Windows 10 PC, then I suggest waiting for an official response from the Incomedia support team.  I will mark this thread for their attention.

Otherwise you could try restoring your project from a backup:

The article references version 10, but the procedure in version 11 is similar.

However, check also that you do not have remnants of old or partially deleted projects in your project folder(s)...  see this thread for further information:
