The download link is not sent when a digital product is downloaded. Is it supposed to be created by Website X5 or am I supposed to create a temporary link? It does not seem to be on the order confirmation email.
Also, how do I ensure the payment is received before the link is sent?

You have to check yourself, that payment has been done.
Then you have to process the order in the admin-panel. Then the customer will receive a mail with the link.
This is far from an optimal procedure, but this is how INCOMEDIA have chosen to make it.
