Hello Barry,

There is an explanation of the new features in version 11 (i.e. those that differ from version 10) listed here:

http://www.websitex5.com/en/what-s-new.html

Kind regards,

Paul

Thank you. Apart from the obvious cosmetic changes I can see that there is adsolutly nothing new in version 11.

With due respect Barry, I disagree with your view that the changes listed in that document are "cosmetic".

Many of them are brand new features which are not present in version 10?

Your opinion is of course both valued and valid, and I am not suggesting otherwise.  However, I genuinely disagree with your statement, which could be misleading to other readers.

Are there any particular features which you would like to see introduced in future releases/upgrades of the software?

Kind regards,

Paul

My favourites would be 'optional objects' in Step 3, which opens up a whole new world for add-ons in WebSite X5...  followed by support for Web Fonts, which allows sites to be rendered uniformly across all devices just as the designer intends.

Are there any particular features which you would like to see incorporated in future versions?

Kind regards,

Paul

Thanks for your replay Paul,

I have downloaded the demo of 11. I went to step 3 there seems to be no difference to 10. I clicked on the 2 gears near the drop down and all that exposed was the stuff that is already included under widgets in 10. Also I can't find 'Optional Objects'.

Version 10 is in HTML 5 so it already scales to fit different devices.

I really like the program but I need something exceptional that will improve my productivity and not just a few little titbits.

What would I like in a new version??

  1. Responsive web design
  2. Edit/create templates to add additional page sections, for advertising wings

Just to mention two. These items would make it worthwhile to upgrade

Over the years there have been many ideas put by users with very few being added.

I really cannot see any great additions to version 11 and why I should spend $100 on what I already have with professional 10, maybe I am missing something

Barry

Hi Barry/Jan,

Optional objects are described in the online help file:

http://help.websitex5.com/en/v11/evo/index.html?gestione_oggetti.htm

I find them very exciting because for the first time you can customise WebSite X5 by creating your own objects to plug in to the software, or alternatively using objects designed by others.  It's only the third day since v11 was released, hence no third-party 'optional objects' are available as yet.  If and when they are you will be able to access them through the software's own interface.

Web Fonts don't have anything to do with scaling.  Instead they allow a designer to be absolutely certain that the font he/she chooses will display EXACTLY as expected on the end user device.  Previously we had to restrict our choices to a narrow range of web safe fonts, such as Arial, Helvetica, Verdana if we wanted to be sure that they would be rendered in the browser as intended.

I agree that responsive design is an oft requested feature.

Maybe I appreciate some of the new features in v11 because of my emphasis as a 'back-end' developer.  Simple additions like line numbers in the HTML Editor are incredibly useful to me.

But as they say, your mileage may vary!

Kind regards,

Paul

...I've been a Beta tester, and for the questions still without solution probably before closing the Beta testing an e-mail would been well accepted. ( I'm talking about the failed importation of many projects) A question urge to me: will I to buy the new program  to have my answers?

I totally agree with Barry (and others) - I cant find any of my suggestions or some of those from other users I have seen. The program is still very slow, and the e-commerce part is lacking so many features.

I bought this software because it was really easy to work with, and making a internet shop was easy. But, when the shop expanded, the lack of features makes it almost useless.

I think I will wait for version 12 or look elsewhere. I can't see how 11 is $100 better than 10.

Hello Everyone.

To be honest, I was realy disapointed with this new 11 version. I'm using this program starting with 8th version, and all the next one versions were much better and usefull then previus one.

And it was not only about cosmetic changes, but all the functional changes and usefull features. But when I've got this one, first thing I saw, it looked terrible. Plase look at the attached file.

Maybe this is the problem of Russion version, but this is not program for 100 USD ( I paid 65 EUR). Menu part looks very cheap. Espcialy comparing with v10, wich I think was the best one.

And one more, during a couple first steps I've met program mistake. When I tried to change dropping out menu settings. It just threw me away from the program.

I hope all this things will be fixed with new updates. Maybe expiriance of 11th version will help to make the 12th much better.

Website X5 is the only reason to have Win8 on my MacBook. I was/am too lazy to switch all my previous projects to other SW I have purchased and I am playing with and using for small projects (e.g. ResponsiveLayoutMaker and other soft from CoffeCup, or Macaw). WX5 v11 is still good, but I wait for more modern functions in it. 65€ are not big money, but it is too much as upgrade price from v10 Pro. I do not need full responsive design of content, but menu has to have responsive possibilities in this time! Also possibility to merge content objects to groups, or placing object over part of other one should be nice.

Import/transfer issues from v10 are frustrating too. I have two important projects I can't use in v11. One I can't initialize after importing (Object refernce not set to an instance of an object - error), the second project after export to server makes login to locked pages impossible.

I'll wait, what uptates brings to us, but I am not very optimistic, and all new projects I am going to strat to create in other SW...
