HTML code FaceBook like box not working in text object! Please help me!  en

Hello,

I am having more trouble with X5 Evolution 11. It is very frustrating! I want to do something that is simple in most other programs but I have had nothing but trouble with it in this X5 program and I have tried several different things to resolve this. I want to simply embed a FaceBook Like Box via HTML code with like button and streams.

I have set up a grid with 4 squares of equal sizes in step 3 page creation. I call it my contact page. I want my FaceBook Like Box in the top right grid and my email contact form widget is in the top left grid. I got the code from here: https://developers.facebook.com/docs/plugins/like-box-for-pages

So this is what I did, I grabbed a text object and dragged it into the top right grid. Then I double clicked and pasted the FaceBook HTML code. I highlighted the code and then selected the HTML just above the text area. Then I select preview and nothing happens! Once or twice it showed up but most of the time it doesn't. Yet I did it the same everytime! I am very frustrated after trying to figure this out for several hours to no avail. I don't know if it is me doing something wrong or whether the program is flawed...

Please help me with ideas to help resolve this issue I am having.

Thanks in advance as always. I appreciate it.

Hello Tibi,

Please try using the HTML Object to insert the code from Facebook, instead of the Text Object.

The Text Object has limited support for HTML, and may give unpredictable results.  It is best to restrict HTML in the Text Object to basic use only.

In addition, please also note that it's often better to type HTML code in manually, or alternatively paste into Notepad first, and then cut again and paste back into the Object.  This is because copy/paste procedures can introduce unwanted (and often invisible) control characters, which break the HTML syntax.  Going to Notepad as an intermediate step removes the unwanted Rich Text Formatting.

Hope this helps.

Kind regards,

Paul
