How do I create a full-screen website with version 10 or 11?

All templates that come with Website X5 versions 10 and 11 seem not to support full-screen mode. The content is focused onto the center of the screen, with unusable space on both sides of the screen which is nothing but space for a wallpaper image.
How am I to create a website that uses the entire screen real estate just as I can see in some other websites? Can I modify existing templates for this purpose?

You can copy any template, then edit the copy.
You can adjust the width in the banner in the template.
But why would you, have you seen a recently developed site with full width ? Usally its contents is centered and there is some background that uses up the sides. Then it only looks a full screen site but it really isn't.
This is the most recent way of creating websites (with empty or with background filled space on the sides)
But If you want you can adjust it the widt to very width screen, bear in mind how it will look on portables and poeple with small screens, or people that use multiple programes in windowd screens, they also look at your site from a relativly small window.
Then there explorer trys to make something of it but usualy your getting an annoying screen scroller on the bottem, and you need to push that to the left and right to read, i will leave a site like that fast....
So my suggenstion would be don't mess with the width it's adjusted to suite the template and yuoor site as best possible.
(you could make the window here in Answers very small for an example on your pc)

But I see full-width websites that load in my cell phone without the left-to-right scroller at the bottom. Looks like they were created with adjustable width, depending on the device that you load them on.
How do you adjust the width of the banner in a WebSite X5 template?
Anton, that is not possible in x5 -yet-
maybe make an IDEA post for Incomedia to handle this in futere versions.
For the mean time if you realy want it, you can visit x5tuts.com, there should be a script that takes care of this. To be honest I know that the guy that makes that site mentioned it to some custumers, I haven't tryed this myself.....

I just visited x5tuts.com and first thing I noticed, the site is full-width! Did he use X5 to create it?
No it's not auto full width, it looks that way cause the background picture extends in line with header and footer. This creates this effect you can make the background picture very small and repeat over all the width you can generate.
If you enlarge further (see attachent for a small part of that) then you will see white lines.
If you make it smaller you wll see the scrollbar and you need to scroll on your pc.

But then, there are some websites that have auto full width, can X5 do it too? As an example, here's http://www.victoriasellhomes.com/
Whatever the size, there will be no scrollbars, and the content automatically adjusts to the window.
How does this happen?
Keep in mind that x5 is no substition for a profesional builder. If x5 was that then these guys would have no job. they are asking for a site like that multiple times more then the cost of x5 profesional....
But the website it self (not the footer or the header has a limited max and min width and it adjusts to smaller automaticly is steps.
the header is calculated to the window and rendered accordingly (you can see it calculates and then makes the movie bigger or smaller this is exactly to size of your window.
The website itself just goes down in steps because this is not a movie and it's not possible to adjust it for every possible width. Take it down with small steps and you will see that it stays the same until the boxes don't fit and then it will make it 1 box smaller. Until the next boxes don't fit untill a minimum width.
But this is not done in x5, Jamie has made templates for automaticly change to mobile template. I think these are 2 sites and after a certain window it turn into the other site with same information, but I'm not sure here I'm just guessing, ask Jamie here or in x5 tuts if you need more info on this.

Hi Anton, what you are asking for is called resposive web design, and can be achieved with different techniques like jquery masonary or break points and their are probably a lot of different techniques web developers use. Beleive me unless you are into programming it is no easy task, even though I use another web design software that has just introduced RWD, it is still a new thing and not for the faint hearted to get their heads around.
Instead of worrying about all that fancy new web stuff, I would concentrate on learning all the stuff you can do with X5, and web design in general, believe me I do a lot of web design and use different web building software and custom coding. For ease of use and the ability to get very professional results with a huge library of templates to choose from, X5 really is one of the best out there, I use it all the time, especially if I want to get a good looking site up and running quickly.
If you want to get more advanced you will need to learn a bit of html and use the html object, then you could implement stuff like jquery etc.
Anyway, learn what great stuff X5 can do and concentrate on creating good looking, well laid out, easy to navigate and functional web sites, that is what visitors like.
