Mail in form not sent (since moving to v11 pro)  en

Hello,

I made a form (with the x5v10) with an automatic confirmation to my mailbox, and it worked perfect. Since I moved to v11 Pro, the information in the form go to the database, but I get no more confirmation by mail.

I precise that the server where the site is hosted works with php 5.

Why could it be so? Thanks for your help !!

Hello Antoine,

Email issues can be diagnosed using the online control panel for your WebSite X5 project.

Please log in to your WebSite X5 online control panel here:

http://www.pianiste-online.com/admin/login.php

Your username and password is the 'Administrator' details which you have defined in Step 4 Advanced Settings > Access Management

Once you have logged in look towards the top left hand corner of your screen...  you will see a link marked 'Test'...  click on it...

In the new screen which appears you will be able to comprehensively test and troubleshoot your email settings.  You will also be notified of any errors in your server configuration.

Let us know how you get on...  we are here to help if we can.

Kind regards,

Paul

Hello Paul,

I connected to the online control panel, everything is green and ok, but when I try sending mails, nothing arrives... I tried to send to differents addresses, no result !

Strange, because it worked perfect some weeks ago, and I made no change since then. Maybe something with the host? (here is the link to one of this page with problem : http://www.concertogrosso.fr/en/contacts.html )

Thanks for your help !

Can you confirm that you tried sending test emails using all three scripts, Antoine?

The different scripts are accessed using the drop-down menu labelled 'Email form script type' in your online control panel.

If so, then the next thing to do would be to have a word with your web host and explain your problem to them.  It is quite feasible that something is broken server side.

But please try every combination of email script in WebSite X5 first.

The fact that this happened at the same time that you started using version 11 might be coincidental...  but then again it might not...  do you still have access to a v10 project?  If so, can you send mail successfully using it when hosting on the same server?

Please keep us posted.

Kind regards,

Paul

Yes, I tried all the 3 scripts, no result.

I am already in contact with my web host, they say that the mail sending is ok... But when I use their test, I also don't get mail ! (I checked the spam, nothing also there !)

Meanwhile, I made just a test site on v10, on the same webhost... and it does not work either. Then I put the same site on another webhost and it works!

so it seems definitely that the host is guilty !!! But what to say them, if they tell that everything is ok from their side???

Hello Antoine,

I'm not sure about France but here in the UK the host would be in breach of contract and you would be entitled to prompt cancellation and a refund if they cannot provide the service(s) you are paying for.

I don't really feel qualified to advise on your best course of action, but if I were in your position I think I would begin by reminding them that when you use their own test facility you don't receive any emails.  Surely they cannot deny that you have grounds for further investigation?

It might end up being a temporary problem...  sometimes server side issues last for a few hours or a couple of days, and then suddenly you find a pile of emails arrive in your inbox.  But even if that were to happen, if it were me I would want to know why they insisted everything was working correctly when clearly it wasn't.

Best of luck...  I hope the matter is resolved soon, and if all else fails vote with your feet and move to a host with first-class support.

Paul

Hello Paul,

Yes, this is exactly what I did. They replied me that they put me on php 5.4, and ask to try again the mail test (what failed, I mean the test says " ok" but I get no mail !). I warned them that there is something wrong already here, and also asked if they have a kind of spam filter... maybe they blocked something.

I will write how things are going on ! Thanks for your help and good advices.

All the best,

Antoine

You're welcome...  by the way, if the mail issue occurred after they moved you from PHP 5.3 to 5.4 then it sounds very much like a server configuration problem.

PHP mail should work equally well on either version, but web hosts can sometimes inadvertently break correctly working setups when they perform upgrades like that.
