Default Template galler

In the default template gallery there are free and buy templates, and the templates are visible on the left side and on the right side is the preview of the template. I pick a free template then click the free button under the preview then click save then next after this point the template is blank no pictures or content all I see or get is the menu and a page background. Should there be content there also?

No, it will only shows the menu and the images from bg or header, there will be no content inside pages. you need to use your own images and content.
