Inserting downloadable audio files in Evo11  en

Hi,

I would like to add password protected audio files to my website that can be downloaded by people who take a class that I teach.  I used the audio/video object to insert the files on a hidden page on my website, but I would like people to be able to download the files onto their computers and/or mobile devices, rather than having to log into my website every time they would like to listen to the recordings. Is it possible to do this with Evo11 and, if so, is there a way to password protect the files, as well?

Thanks for thinking about this.

Best wishes,

Cindy

The easyest way is to create a seperate link to the file.

Make a text or a picture of a download button next or underneath your file.

Create a link to it to the picture or tekst to your audio/video file.

In the link option there is also a tab for a description, you could set there a text like, use right mouse button to download the file.

You need offcource to set the left mouse button operationel in step 4 (statistics, seo and code option) make sure the option html code protection is off.

Test this not only in preview but also after updating your site, there could be small differences with preview and internet view for left mouse button options.

Goodluck !

Cynthia, you can not protect a digital file with x5 program. once you create your link and send it to first person, they can easily find the path and give it to someone else! No matter page is set for private or not, your path to the file is not protected, and there are 100s of programs out there they can easily download your digital file.

only softwares/ scripts who has digital shoping carts and work with database would be able to do that.

you can make winzip or rar, and compress your file and set password to it, then give the password to person who bought your product, etc.

Also I would suggest to change your password weekly.

Hi again,

O.K.  So I've abondoned the idea of password protecting the recordings.  However, I'm still not clear on how I can make the audio files downloadable.  Using the video/audio object, I was able to create links to the mp3 files, however they can only be listened to if someone is at the website.  I would like to enable people to download the files from my website onto their own devices, rather than having to listen to the recordings at my website.  I've attached a test template so you can see what I've done so far.  Any ideas?  Thanks again!

Enjoy your day,

Cindy

Cynthia,

Create an text object below the object you now have, then set at etxt in it, like 'pree right mouse button for download'

select that text and use the button on top to create a link, select file or URL, select your music file. That should be it.

I shall make a small example on my test site.

I made 3 ways to create a link, the first 2 are most used, the third is with a locked page so you need to give a login to your visitor to give acces.
