X5 v.11 Professional .NET problem with Windows XP  en

I am using Windows XP SP3 and I can't open Professional X5 version 11. An error message says, "imRegister.exe - .NET Framework initialization error. Unable to find a version of the runtime to run this application."

I then uninstalled the program and the '.NET framework extended' which it had installed, 'repaired' my existing .NET Framework 4.0 using the Microsoft download and started again with no other apps running, but the same thing happened.

Someone else solved a similar problem by installing .NET version 4.5.2, but the Microsoft download for this is not available for Windows XP. Does this mean I can't run v. 11 Professional with Windows XP?

Arnold, I do not have xp, but you need to keep in mind, there is no support for win XP from microsoft, personaly I feel its not safe anymore to use it.

So far the best winsows is ver.7 (pro or ultimate). I suggest you to upgrade your windows to 7, your windows is to old for many new programs.

I remember back in the day you where able to run the program in compatible mode (or something like that) try to see if that can help you!

install the program in compatible mode.

Problem solved!

Thanks to both of you for your quick replies.

Anthony, I do have Windows 8 on my laptop but I much prefer to use XP on my desktop. (I do regular True Image backups in case of virus attack, and to date all my programs have run as required.) Compatible mode was an option in Vista and I think in Windows 7, but not in XP. Following your advice I tried installing X5 on my Windows 8 laptop and it said I needed .NET v. 3.5, which I knew was not on my XP desktop either, although this did have v. 4.0.30319, Serg, so that wasn't the problem.

I returned to my XP desktop, installed .NET Framework v. 3.5, and the software is now running in XP without a problem.
