Use of editor after publishing works only temporary  en

I don't understand what is happening to my edits/changes.  The site is published and is actually beginning to look good.  I am using a HTML editor to tweak some of the text in the head and change a couple meta tags.  Everything is saved and looks good, ...... for awhile.

Problem is that whenever I update the site (re-publish), edits I made in one or all of the pages done with the HTML editor revert back to what it was before before changes made.

Why is this happening?  How can I make the changes/edits permenant?  I thought that this is one of the recomended methods for making changes.   It's like the software doesn't want any of the original tags or texts to be deleted, replaced or altered in anyway.

This makes no sense why!

Joe, everytime you update the website, those files will be gone.

keep a copy of the page inside the host and rename it. if you update the website and you did not update the same page inside your x5, the go ahead delet the new one, rename the old one and boom, it will show your changes.

I make the same changes to both pages,  the page on the server and the page in my file.  Is that what you're talking about.  This format makes little sense to me as if I go in and use a editor to make all and adequete changes, why is, and how can, the changes all revert back to where it was before changes made?  Seems that the software is designed to not allow changes to default meta tags, or for that matter, anything in the head.  I shouldn't have to make copies or rename files like it was mentioned earlier.

This really doesn't give the user all control of his/her website.  Is there anything down the road for changes in X5 11?

I walked away and came back a few hours later to try again.  I'm making the changes to the project files of WX5 as you stated JJ.  I UPLOAD that file(s) back up to the server and quess what, they disappear again.

Is it someting with my computer?  I'm getting comfortable with using this software and am making the changes with the editor.

Hello Joe,

I fyou edit with your html editor the files in the preview or upload folders these changes will get lost since the program, when you open the preview or you export the project, overwrites them. You need to make the changes inside the program to avoid to loose them otherwise everytime you export, the program overwrites them with what is visible inside the program.

Many thanks!
