You are not alone.

Sadly you need your site to have a re-write using something that offers Responsive Websites, or you need to try and switch your index to direct people to at least a mobile URL.

Dear Leo, Michael and Eulogio,

thank you for contacting us and for letting us know what you think.
We have noticed that Google is sending alert-emails out and would like to assure you that we do realize how important it is to view correctly your website on mobile devices. We do know for certain that change is a constant and we will do our best to adjust WebSiteX5 according to needs.
We would like to point out though, that what google is talking about refers only to your website visualized on mobile devices, it does not envolve websites viewed on desktop.
What we can suggest is to have a look at the hints displayed here by Google https://developers.google.com/webmasters/mobile-sites/get-started/ and adjust your website according to needs.

When you examine in depth, you will find out that Google allows several mobile friendly setups. You can create one of these options with WebSite X5, by using the mobile templates in the Template Gallery and by creating your mobile friendly website. Google explains how to set everything correctly here: https://developers.google.com/webmasters/mobile-sites/mobile-seo/configurations/separate-urls

I hope this helps.

I think that Incomedia is missing the point, it seems that Google will penalise those sites that are not in their eyes mobile friendly and as such we could lose ranking for sites that do not meet this criteria.

And to be honest although we could do a second mobile site this doubles the maintenance of an e commerce site that needs to be kept up to date.

Unless something can be done quickly then the first some may know about it will be when ranking and sales drop off.

Incromedia please look at this with some urgency.

It would be helpful, to have a transfer function from "normal" to mobile website, since all information are already organized in a structured format. The easiest way would be to put the frames at the bottom and that allows to make arrangements to the header.

Are you planning something for fulfilling the requirements of google?

P.S.: In this context it would also be helpful if I could define the hieghts of a menue button. At the moment it only changes based on font size.

Samantha,

You state "You can create one of these options with WebSite X5, by using the mobile templates in the Template Gallery and by creating your mobile friendly website."

I can find no "mobile templates" anywhere in the template Gallery.  Please clarify this statement.

Jim

@Jim R.

the mobile templates are found within the drop-down list within the templates option.

Just scroll down til you see mobile.

Hello,

I also find that responsive sites are being favored over others, Google had announced recently that by a certain date this will come into reality and I do agree with one post here that it would double the maintenance and work over all to do a mobile friendly site as an extra step.  While other software companies are jumping on the band wagon it leaves me no other choice but to purchase their web design software and create from there.

With a growing population using tablets and smart phones it's only obvious this is the future.

Starting April 21st, Google will begin favoring responsive sites over ones that require 'pinch & zoom' to use on mobile.

Having read further into the response below and that of the developer site – it does appear (and I thought so) that sites that are designed for desktops and then searched in google on a desktop will not be penalised if there is no mobile friendly site – however sites that are designed for a desktop, with either no responsive design or mobile design, that are then searched for on a mobile will be penalised.

So ok, what then you are saying is that “if no-one is looking/searching on a mobile that's ok” - so theoretically then if I add the code to the index to direct people to a mobile version (and the page passes the Google Mobile Friendly Test) things will be ok – although it is a bit of a pain having to run 2 lots of sites – a standard www.xyz.com site and then a m.xyz.com site (I have tested it and the redirects work, as per a previous post of mine – although if you simply export your standard site using the mobile template, it still failed the mobile friendly test – because it had too much text and it was too close together so we have to then amend and mess about with our templates all the more).

However, my colleague mentions that if you do this, google will possibly rank the site on its root domain (www.) and then although you have a mobile design it is still not mobile friendly (or at least not google friendly) and therefore still not be proper.

So for example go to www.domesticcleanersinlondon.co.uk/index.html on your mobile and you will be directed to the mobile X5 template – but even messing about with it, it still does not fit and work correctly.

Hence the real need for mobile responsive designs – yet if you go to the root www.domesticcleanersinlondon.co.uk you get to the .php page www.domesticcleanersinlondon.co.uk.index.php and you will see that this is MRD via Wordpress.

What we need though is the ability to do MRD through X5.

Samantha, are you hinting that responsive web design is going to be a part of the next update? Oh I hope so!

If not, then I have found a workable alternative to upgrading to X5 Evo 11 and any future updates; https://webflow.com/ as written about at http://www.tentononline.com/create-beautiful-responsive-websites-without-any-code/

Looking forward to your answer Samantha.

I just looked at this and it seems pretty amazing and good value. I have been loyal to Incomedia since Version 8 and hope that they get the improved features such as responsive design incorporated before Google "changes the rules - again" later this month.

Dear Christopher,

we always do our best to satisfy our users therefore I'm sure our developers will do what they can this time as well. I can not confirm that they are going to add responsive web design though, we will just have to wait and see.

Thank you for your interest in our program.

Has anyone discovered another software that answers the mobile friendly issue? I like Incomedia X5 but if it's developers are too slow or incapable to develop an update what choice is there but to look elsewhere?

I've created a seperate x5 site for mobile for now, it's a lot of work as it has to be done twice, not ideal - I'm then using a redirect script (as shared on the forum) to detect the mobile device..

On another note, developement of this product is indeed slow, the concept is good - but after being an avid user for many years I'm heading to another platform - just a few of my frustrations is the dated Shopping Import / Export options for ecommerce and lack of direct social media integration - Sorry guys but the new features in X5 professional 11 are few and far between since it's original launch - there should be many core options included with pro version not paid plugins for javascrpipt libraries you add for $$$ just to flip some photos, I'm sure you guys can do better.
