On opening the website project, I see a message saying I used fonts which are not on my computer.
Author: Jim RI have a very large website, which was working fine until I upgraded to Windows 10. Now, on opening the website project, I see a message saying I used fonts which are not on my computer. I proceed to open the project, and I can edit pages, but when I try to preview the project it crashes the programme.
I'm thinking I will have to go through every page and reformat the text in a standard font, Arial probably. But as my project contains dozens and dozens of pages, and each page contains up to 20 separate text boxes, I'd like some sort of assurance that I wouldn't be wasting my time. Doing it one page at a time doesn't work, as the programme still crashes on preview.
Previously, the programme alowed you to preview just one page. Perhaps this feature should be reinstated.
Best wishes,
Jim
Hello Jim,
The best course of action would be to forget about traditional fonts altogether, and instead make use of the new Web Fonts or Google Fonts, for which your copy of WebSite X5 Evolution edition has full support.
This is because if you have used fonts in your web project which are not present on your computer then there is a high probability that they will not be present on your visitors' computers either, therefore your site will not be displayed as intended. However, if you use the new Web Fonts then this problem is completely eradicated:

Can you explain further what you mean? WebSite X5 still allows you to preview one page at a time... no functionality has been removed in that respect.
Kind regards,
Paul

Hi Paul,
Thanks for the reply. The only fonts I used were Arial and Times New Roman, neither of which I would have expecetd to cause anyone any problems. As the programme successfully compiled my project with these fonts before Windows 10, I can't understand why it shouldn't be able to now.
The one page preview issue: I'm pretty sure that e10 allowed you to select a preview option from a menu, which was to either compile the entire project or to compile the page currently selected.
Thanks again,
Jim
Hello Jim,
The option to compile only one page was in Version 8 but after it was no longer present. About the crash can you please copy the details of the crash report to see what causes it and paste it here?
Many thanks!

Hi Claudio,
Sorry if this is a stupid question, but where do I find a crash report?
When the program crashes, I get a message which simply says a problem has caused the program to stop working.
Thanks,
Hello Jim,
Thank you for the crash message. In this case try to repair .NET in this way:
Go to Control Panel > Programs and Features > Turn Windows features on or off
Clear the check box for Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.1 and then click on OK. Clear also the check box for Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5 and then click on OK.
After Windows disables the feature you will need to go back to re-enable Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.1 and 4.5 and then click ok.
About the fonts check the names of the fonts which appears not installed and proceed to install all of them and then import again the project to test it.
Many thanks!
