Hi Paul

If my files have a different encoding, can I change this? If so, not sure how.

Kind regards

Roy

Hello again Roy,

Most encoding software allows you to specify the parameters of your choice when converting a media file.

I don't use VLC for this purpose personally...  I use an Aiseesoft product:

http://www.aiseesoft.com/

However, I had a look in VLC for you and quickly found options for altering the encoding parameters...  please see the attached screenshot.

The path to the options within VLC was as follows:

Media > Convert/Save > Convert/Save (drop-down mini menu) > Convert > click 'Tools' icon > select 'Video codec' tab

Hope that helps...

Hi Paul

Thanks for your help so far. When I open the Video codec tab, where do I add the encoding info (MPEG-4 H-264 25, 29 or 30 fps)? The top option only gives you a drop down menu to choose from.

Thanks for your continued support.

Roy

Do I put the codec in the Custom box at the bottom?

I've never used VLC for media conversion so I couldn't advise you any further on that score I'm afraid, Roy...  however, a quick search of the internet yielded some links which I think will answer your question(s):

http://www.guidingtech.com/8848/use-vlc-player-to-convert-videos-from-one-format-to-another/

http://features.en.softonic.com/vlc-media-player-as-video-converter

https://www.vlchelp.com/convert-video-format/

There is also a VLC user forum available for any further queries you may have in using their software:

https://forum.videolan.org/

Failing that, I can thoroughly recommend Aiseesoft media conversion software...  I've used it for many years without any issues whatsover...  it always converts the files correctly first time, every time.

Good luck!
