How to set-up a web page that will contain files such as Word, Excel or PDF documents that could be downloaded by a viewer ?

The fastest available by inserting as described below.
In the box you insert a PDF or PPT / PPS, then you put the file on the server and you give him the address tab. You set other parameters and ready.
Now everyone will be able to directly see or download content on the site.

I have found the simplest way is to highlight and link to a local file, or if you prefer, create a thumbnail, place it on the page and link to a local file. Website X5 will take care of uploading each of the files when you upload your site. If the user has the appropriate reader it will open in their web browser and give them the option to save it.
I do this for a small newspaper http://www.waterlinenews.com.au
