Cannot change text size - X5 Pro v11  en

I don't know if this is a possible program bug but I'm trying to change the text size of a heading from 12 pt to 16 pt and the program will not let me. It takes the change but as soon as I save or preview the page the change has been reverted to 12 pt (see attached screenshot). Strangely, it will allow 14 pt but not 16 pt.

I am using a template. In the General Settings I have specified header text as 16 pt and body text as 12 pt however, that should not prevent me from making text size changes.

Any ideas please?

. . . the text has been introduced from Word or similar? If yes please convert text to plain first --> insert in textbox --> change size . . .

No, I'm sorry, it was typed in Notepad and pasted in as plain text. Then I tried changing the size. The main body text remains 12 pt which is correct but I can only change the sub-titles (or subject headers if you prefer) to 14 pt. As soon as I select 16 pt and preview, it has been reverted to 12 pt.

I even tried deleting the text entirely, setting the font size to 16 pt and then typing the subject header manually. Same thing happens.

I could not get any reply to this issue so settled for a rather silly workaround which was to use 18 pt instead of 16 pt. Strangely, the program allows that. Go figure!

Further to my last post, it appears X5 is still refusing to respect text sizes.
See this page: http://www.soeks.fr/en/did-you-know.html

All the green headings are supposed to be 18 pt but if I preview or save the page they are instantly converted to 10 pt and it looks ridiculous.

This is clearly a bug in the software and it is really annoying. I am surprised nobody else has noticed it!

As nobody has been able to suggest a solution to the problem, is there any way I can access the underlying HTML code, in Notepad for example, so I may edit the corrupt code manually?

The heading Radioactivity appears to be the name of the page, in which case the setting is under template style (step 1), text style, page title.

But further down the page I note the heading Nitrates and Electo-magnet. . .  are also both small. I assume you have blocked these headings and attempted to select the size you want without success.  Interesting that it doesn't appear to affect French, the English pages are not being generated are they?

If the problem persists you could try creating a full width cell to put each heading in, but that would mean a fair amount of work dividing up each problem page.

For what it's worth I have never experienced this behaviour and I frequently use 13pt which has to be typed in.

If the worst comes to the worst, you can embed html code directly into any text cell.

I'm not sure what you meant by "the English pages are not being generated are they?"

And you are indeed correct, it did not happen to the French page although I have had this issue on other pages both on the French site and the English site as explained in my original post. The site was duplicated to create a store on another domain and one way I managed to get around the issue was to copy the cell of a correctly formatted page to clipboard and then open the other site and paste it over the corrupted cell. Indeed, the store site does not have this problem on that page so I can do that again. See http://derobe.fr/en/did-you-know.html

But I really would like to find a solution to this as I find it incredibly annoying to have to work in this manner.

I must admit I know nothing about HTML5, javascript, nor CSS so my idea of manually editing the HTML fell flat on its face because I managed to open the page in Notepad and noticed the generated code bears no relation to the classic HTML I am used to. In other words, it is not possible to simply add <font face="Arial" size="18pt" color="#FFFFCC">Radioactivity</font>.

Your cell idea couldn't work due to the drop shadowed border but, if I enable HTML could I do what I suggested in the previous paragraph or would the program not recognize basic HTML?

Adrian - because the French pages didn't seem to have the issue, I thought maybe they came first and then you might have run google translate across each page and recreated it in English, so this could have introduced hidden characters.

As for html code. Yes, simply add the code to the page, highlight it and click on embed html, if your code is correct it should work (although I only had limited success with your example code. You may wish to look at  http://www.w3schools.com/tags/att_font_size.asp and check the compatibilty notes).

I suggest you ask someone far cleverer than me to look at your project, the issues you are having I cannot explain or recreate.

The odd thing is that I built the English pages first. Once the site was complete I duplicated it and translated it to French. Google was not used because it does a very bad job.

After having read your article at w3schools, it appears I need to use CSS but I have no idea how to do that. Theoretically, X5 generates that automatically but it is doing it wrong.

I find it odd that you cannot recreate the issue as it happens to me very regularly. For instance, I am in the process of rebuilding another one of my sites. On the home page I used a table. In the first 3 cells I used a text size of 13 pt. I did the same in the 4th cell but as soon as I preview it the font size of the 4th cell changes to 9 pt. It doesn't matter what I do, even closing the program and restarting, nothing has any effect. In the end I gave up and changed everything to 14 pt.

One thing I have noted is that this issue generally appears when I use a font size that is not available in the drop down list. Typically, it happens when I set font sizes of 11, 13, 15, and 17 pt. That said, you may remember recently, I had the same problem with 16 pt and ended up using 18 pt because X5 would not allow 16 pt, so it's not limited to odd figures.

In theory, I think you could simply embed this on your page and it would work

<p style="font-size:30px">This is a paragraph.</p>

(first time I did it it worked, subsequent efforts to modify existing text failed :-(

Does this issue affect every font, or just Arial?

I now primarily use Roboto - you can download the ttf from google fonts. If it behaves perhaps you have corrupt fonts? If you choose to use roboto you will need to embed some code so everyone sees what you see - but that is exremely easy.

Hopefully someone from incomedia (or a moderator) is reading this and will offer to look at your project.

In the SOEKS site, the text was primarily Arial. In the latest site, LiquidASS, it is Comic Sans. I tend to stick to common TrueType fonts so that everybody sees what I see.

comic Sans will be fine for users on Mac and PC - but I suspect mobile devices will see times.
