My Buckup xml file is corrupt  en

I was trying to save my site after a small change and the system crashed due to an XML fault.

I cannot load the project file.

I went to Backups and non of the backups I created were listed. I went into the directory of backups and they are there but the XML file is small and does not list the backup files.

Is there any way of re-generating the xml file. My website is 50 pages and I cannot redo it . It took me months.

PLEASE HELP I am desperate, Thank you in advance.

I have made a backup of the directory so I can work on a scratch copy

Hello Peter,

If I were at your position, I would first of all try to do a "data recovery" of my hard disk. That way you might find some older instances (the newer the better) of the backups.xml file and use it open your projects. As any data recovery, you should not use your hdd till recovery completes. One free easy solution for data recovery is recuva. But be sure to install it not on the hdd from where you want to recover your data.

As for the WebsiteX5, I don't really know if they can constract your backups.xms. I am sure they will replay at your post.

Hello Peter,

It is not possible to rigenerate the file. If you select the project and you click on backup are there no backups listened?

Did you set the option to generate backups when you save or export it online in the program?

This can be set by clinging the arrow near the save button.

Many thanks!

Thank you for the Answers, What I eventually did was to rename both XML files and copy the last big Project file to the main directory and renamed it project then reloaded the project and then saved it again and that worked. I have over 300 saved versions of the project but none of them showed up in the backup window due to the XML file been corrupt.

So it seems like that is a solution.

Thank you for your interest
