I am making a website with x5 pro 12 and after loading the site to the internet, i am unable to edit the dynamic content. After logging in, i can edit it but then it doesn't save. It just shows it as it was before. Please help and if there are steps to take to ensure this works everytime on a site made with x5, that would be great!

Thanks in advance.

I went to that post and it is not really helpful. I have set the permissions to 777 but currently I have tried the following:

First, I had set the site dynamic directory folder (ex. /dynamic) and then on each dynamic object I set them all to (/edits). I notice that if I look at the directory on my hosting server, that it shows a "dynamic" folder and inside that one there is an "edits" folder. I have tried to give 777 permissions to both the dynamic  and the edits folder but it still doesn't work.

Second, I tried just having the main folder and nothing else but that doesn't work either.

Do I need to set each object to its own folder? Is there a standard way of setting this all up? I would really like to use this feature as I have been using a third party option but it has been a very complex process. It would be nice to use the built in dynamic content option but I have found little info about setting it up correctly.

Basically what I want to achieve is this:

Setup dynamic content throughout the site and setup users that are able to edit content according to their permissions.

Thanks in advance!

Ok, so that info is helpful. Thank you! now as I follow along on those two links, it appears that I am doing everything right. when creating the website with php enabled pages for the dynamic content to be editable, should the folder you specify be already set to the right permissions? It appears that the permissions are set to 755 from the start. I have had problems with editable content saving after changes and I have a feeling that changing permissions to 777 on the specified folder setup in advanced settings isn't safe. So what is the correct permissions that the dynamic content folder should have? What is the best way to set this up without opening up to the whole world?

Thanks again for all the help!

Hello D. Nicholson,

It works also with permissions set to 755. What I would suggest you is or to remove the folder set in step 4 data management or the folder set in the dynamic content object.

If you define the folder in step 4 data management then it is not necessary to define a further one since this will be the default folder for all objects.

Many thanks!
