Custom Widgets  en

Whilst beta testing, I asked about how to create new widgets.

I was told the process would be outlined in the final manual.

I cannot see it in there, so, how do we create custom widgets?

Regards,

Hello Darren,

We're still working on the istructions on how a customer can build a custom widget. We plan to build a widget gallery where customers can download and install them in their WSX5.

As soon as this will be ready, we'll talk about this right here on answers. Wink

Hi Claudio,

what is the status for creating custom widgets? The last post is about half a year ago and I did not find any hint. I tried to create the widgets by myself, but got stuck at the point calculating the checksum stored in the key file.

Here is, what I did so far:

1) Widgets are located in "%ProgramFiles%\WebSite X5 v9 - Evolution\Widgets" and named *.iwgt
2) iwgt-files are zip-files
3) Adding .zip makes the content (icon.png, key, manifest.xml) visible
4) The key file contains a checksum that looks like md5
5) Changing content of the three files step by step shows, that the checksum is calculated at least over the icon.png and manifest.xml
6) However, I could not calculate the right md5 using Microsofts fciv.exe

How can I calculate the correct checksum stored in the key file?

Any help is much appreciated.

Hi Marco,

The algorithm used to calculate the checksum is proprietary. Actually, we are working to provide you more tools for creating the widgets.

As soon as everything is ready, we'll send a newsletter to everyone of you. Wink
