Are the pictures on a remote place like a externaldirve or usb stick or are they on your harddrive? The last option is the best.

Sometimes it helps if you -before uploading- and have set multiple pictures and they do not show correct up in preview, to use the preview again but then wwith ctrl button pressed. This refreshes all pictures (it takes also a bit longer)

If it then is correct then your upload should also be correct.

Let me know if this has helped,

Best Regards

Hi Andre. The originals are on my computer's hard drive. I've just noticed that although the thumbnails are showing error message in preview, when I click on them I do get the showbox with the image. I will try your suggestion. Many thanks.

The problem is getting worse (see attached). Also the preview page is taking ages to load. I've never had this problem before. Can it be something to do with my computer? X5 appears to be using a huge % of CPU. Should this be? I have to have this website online in 24 hours. Desperately need advice.

If you have a lot of pictures then it can take a while. It helps if the pictures are already small, for internat I never use pictures with higher resolution then about 1000px. Also it helps if the pictures are in jpg or even better png format, this narrows loading time again.

The bigger every picture the longer x5 needs to narrow it doen in size for internet and if you have a lot of pictures then it runs high on time.

You use irfanview (it's free) to create these pictures in a batch so they handle moer easily by x5 and on internet as well.

Hi Andre

I've downloaded irfanview. I will give it a try. So if I convert pictures to a batch file and save as pngs, should this speed things up?

I hope so, you need to check, you can set in irfanview a file size as well and then select all pictures and create a new forlder where all the converted pictures will be placed, then use these pictures in x5 and see if this has helped.

goto file in irfanview, select batch conversion, select file type and use advanced options, select there resize, select also preserve aspect ratio, use resample, and don't enlarge smaller pictures.Set the width or hight to 1024 pix. (if most pictures are landscape use width.)

Then select below a folder where you want the adjusted pictures to go.

First try 2 or 3 pictures and see if the size is smaller and the picture still looks good. if so remove them and do all pictures in one batch.

Hi Andre

You're a gem! That works well. I reduced images by 50% and they've loaded perfectly. Many thanks. Roy
