Closing the preview window closes the programme  en

I mentiond this before but I think it got lost amongst my other queries.

I use the preview window a lot.

Roughly 30% of the time when I close it, however, Website X5 shuts down too. It's random and there appears to be no pattern to it. When I restart the programme I get a message saying it's either in use or wasn't shut down properly.

This is only happening since I moved to V13.

Hello Donald,

Does this happens only on one project or also on other projects?

Can you please also test with a new project if you experience the same issue?

Please let me also kwow which windows version do you use and the exact message you get when this happens.

Many thanks!

Hi Claudio,

It's happening in more than one project.

I just started a new project and it didn't happen - but this is not a surprise, because it doesn't happen in other projects until I've been working on them for some time (days or weeks), opening and closing them many times.

Windows 7 Pro, screenshot of the message attached.

Thanks,
Donald

Hello Donald,

I meant a screenshot of the error message you receive when the program closes after closing the preview.

The screenshot you sent me is the one you receive if a project has not been closed correctly.

Try to repair the .NET Frameworks by following these steps:

To repair the .NET Frameworks 3.5 and 4 you need as first to use following cleanup tool to remove .NET 4:
http://cid-27e6a35d1a492af7.skydrive.live.com/self.aspx/Blog_Tools/dotnetfx_cleanup_tool.zip
Once done go to Control Panel then choose Programs and Features and then click on Turn Windows features on or off. Clear the check box for Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.1 and then click on OK. After Windows disables the feature you will need to go back to re-enable Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.1
This procedure can take some time to deactivate and activate .NET 3.5.1 and once done reinstall .NET 4 after downloading it from following link:
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=17718

Many thanks!

Hi Claudio,

There's no error message when the programme shuts down, the preview page just goes blank for about 2 seconds, then it and the programme disappear.

I'll try your suggestion and get back to you.It might be a day or two before I can be sure the problem's fixed (if it is).

Thanks,
Donald

Did you mean run memory diagnostics? I did, and no issues were found.

Hi Claudio,

I tried your suggestion but there's no change.

Also,

I have a fully updated copy of Windows 10 on a separate partition on my hard drive. I don't use it as my operating system, it's just there because I know that eventually I will have to start using it. I installed V 13 on it and the same thing happened.

This time there was an error message, it's not much help but I've attached it anyway.

Thanks,
Donald

Hi Claudio,

Back in Windows 7, I found several entries like this in Event Viewer:

Faulting application name: WebSiteX5.exe, version: 13.0.5.27, time stamp: 0x58ad60e3

Faulting module name: clr.dll, version: 4.6.1087.0, time stamp: 0x583e5e56

Exception code: 0xc0000005

Fault offset: 0x00000000003b3504

Faulting process id: 0x175c

Faulting application start time: 0x01d298fec3dce4d5

Faulting application path: C:\Program Files\WebSite X5 v13 - Evolution\WebSiteX5.exe

Faulting module path: C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v4.0.30319\clr.dll

Report Id: 01ad33f5-04f2-11e7-9d52-d3205807eca3

This indicates that the issue is indeed in the .NET framework, I'll look further and report back.

D.
