Questions from Hugh Beach:
1. Why can't I edit the template (first page)? See no edit template tool. The program tells me it should be completely customizable, even when I have chosen one of the simplist template in your library of options. Specifically, I am trying to fix the problem whereby menu options scroll off the horizontal bar. See submitted screen picture. The "contact" option has dropped down, although there is plenty of room.
2. The menu options insert themselves in the page they link to automatically. I have never asked (nor want) that. I supply a picture here to exemplify with regard to the 4-pelt option, but it recurs throughout.

Hugh, everything in every template is totally customisable.
If, as in your example, you wish to turn off the page title, simply go to step 2 template, customisation, text style select page title from the drop down list (or click the words Page Title from the preview pane), and take the tick out of visible.
What do you wish to edit ?
Step 2, Template, Customisation, Template structure will allow absolute control. Add or remove backgrounds or colours, alter margins, make the header larger or smaller, move the menu above, below or into the header, etc.
If there is something specific you wish to do, please don't hesitate to ask, or use the help system which whilst daunting at first, is quite comprehensive.
Is the template you are using freely available or have you purchased it?
edit: having just read your second post, I see you are using the blank template option.
