PDF documents do not show when online
Author: Jean-pierre M.I work with Evolution 13
Previously, some pages of our website had PDF docs and it worked fine. I recently did a major update of the website (it had not been updated for 6 months) and now I get a big problem
Some pages may have several PDF docs. Type: Iframe, Local file on PC, height 350.
These PDF show OK on my local PC.
Now, when I upload the website to the Server, these PDF docs no longer show in the page. Instead, all the PDF docs on the page start downloading automatically, which is a real nuisance.
Why does it happen now and it did not happen in February? The only change is that Evolution 13 has undergone a few updates.
Attached a page on my local computer; on the website online the PDF doc won't show up, only the title on the left.
Any explanantion???
Thanks in advance
. . . to which website do you refer ?
Jean-Pierre, it may simply be the the new version/s results in a full refresh of all website files (in the same way that flushing the cache in a browser results in a full reload of the site).
The problem you are experiencing is why I create a thumbnail image of each pdf I require on my site and then link the pdf to it. With this technique the pdf never loads unless the user clicks on it (especially important on mobiles and tablets).

It may be a problem that has gone into some browsers.
Try it with GoogleDocViewer.
Try these two links to identical PDF files with your browser.
>> Normal PDF.
>> PDF GoogleDocViewer
(IT) - Potrebbe essere un problema subentrato in alcuni browser.
Eventualmente provare con GoogleDocViewer.
Provare con il proprio browser questi due link a file PDF identico.
>> PDF normale.
>> PDF GoogleDocViewer

Many thanks to all for your answers. Today I'll try to investigate further with your tips.
What's strange is that a few months ago, I did not have at all this problem.
the URL is: www.jacksonvillerosesociety.org
I own the PDF object and I use it.
Locally on my PC, it looks perfect. When I drag the mouse cursor on the PDF file which is partially shown, I see all the necessary icons to Save, Print, etc... Cf PDF doc attachment
When online, I don't see the doc but it starts dowmnloading automatically (same with mobile phone, tablet, pc). I may have 30 PDF docs on one page and this is no fun at all for viewers when all of them start dowmnloading.
Your PDF file works on my PC with Chrome and Firefox, and works on my mobile with Edge and Chrome.

OK, I found it with the help of your tips.
The answer was in My Chrome settings. For whatever reason (probably last Chrome update) the settings had been modified in two areas:
- my website had been authorized to download automatically. I had to remove it.
- PDF documents had been authorized to download automatically. I had to turn it out.
Now everything works fine. Once again Google is spying and doing things without our knowledge. This is unacceptable.
Website x5 evolution 13 was totally OK.
To all of you, many thanks. I appreciate your help.
