V14 PayPal [Confirmed] shipping address problem  en

Author: Chris D.

Hello,

I seem to have a problem with V14 and PayPal [Confirmed] shipping address.

Am I doing something wrong please?

Maybe there is a tick box that I forgot?

When I look inside the [x5cart.js] I see "&no_shipping=1"

Should this not be "&no_shipping=2" ??

Can anybody advise please?

Thank you.

Hello,

Just to explain a little more...

When a person 'BUYS', they get taken to PayPal to Pay.

But, when the email arrives to the 'Seller Protection' is stated as 'Not Eligible'.

This all used to function correctly. Then we were told that PayPal changed something and that we had to update to V14 to fix it and this still happens. Please forgive me if I'm being stupid, but what am I doing wrong?

Or, is there still a problem with the WebSiteX5 V14 Cart mechanism when it performs the link to PayPal?

Screen shot of the problem attached.

Hello.

Thank you very much for the response.

Yes, the internal PayPal system inside WebsiteX5 is used.

The URL is http://locksmithkeys.co.uk

It used to work, but now even PayPal themselves say that the website is not sending data correctly to them?

Thank you in advance.

My niece is devastated now. There must be somethingthat a websiteX5 technical person can tell us.

This is rediculous!

She has multiple websites all using WebSiteX5 all with the same PayPal problem that USED TO WORK!

We've paid for this. Why will it not work? Somebody MUSTknow why.

This is what my neice just sent me.

++++++++++++

I think we are at the stage where we are going to have  to shut our websites down due to this payment issue, I spoke to a mate whose on the lock forums, hes suggesting people arnt buying from us because of this , people feel it is un secure aswell as them not being un able to make payment they have an unconfirmed address so we cannot ship anyway, even account holders that have had accounts for years and returning customers, im going to give it another week, then thanks to web x I will have to shut down. Absolutely gutted after five years of building a business that its come to this through no fault of my own even after being forced into an upgrade which still has the same problem.

++++++++++++

CAN SOMEBODY PLEASE LOOK AT THIS ASAP !

According to PayPal documentation, the currency code should be TWO CHARACTERS.

WebSiteX5 V14 is sending this: &currency_code=GBP

Should this not be : &currency_code=GB

Having read a ton of stuff today, I can't help but ask this question again that was not answered from the beginning of this thread:

===============================

When I look inside the [x5cart.js] I see "&no_shipping=1"

Should this not be "&no_shipping=2" ??

This is what PayPal state for this option:

===============================

no_shipping

Valid value is:

  • 0. Prompt for an address, but do not require one.
  • 1. Do not prompt for an address.
  • 2. Prompt for an address and require one.

Character Length: 1

Or, could it be this?

&button_subtype=services

As I see this >> name="button_subtype" value="products" << on some other website examples?

Hello Riccardo.

Please tell your developers that there are two errors with the PayPal link that WebsiteX5 V14 generates:

a. '&no_shipping' should be '2', not '1'

b. '&country=' should be 'GB', not 'UK'

I believe that I 'may' have found the problem for you?

Agree?

Hello Chris,

for change the UK to GB you need modify the "uk" in the propeties of the language in step 1. Modify the field " country_codes ".

For the no_shipping if you use the user data for the shipping the 1 is correct.

Hello Riccardo,

Regarding UK to GB: I have changed it in the long line of 2-characters (just before US)

But, when I then EXPORT to website (upload last changes), the PayPal link remains '&country=UK' ?

Please tell me where I should change it 'exactly', if I not changed it in the correct place?

And, why would it not be correct to begin? Why the need to correct it?

And, regarding the '&no_shipping' - I will test again.

Hello Riccardo.

Having '&no_shipping' set to '0' or '1' does not prompt the buyer for an address at PayPal checkout.

Having '&no_shipping' set to '2' does prompt the buyer for an address at PayPal checkout. But, if the buyer uses the addressed passed to PayPal by WebsiteX5 V14 created link, then 'Seller Protection' is 'NOT ELIGABLE'

The Seller Protection is then only ELIGABLE if the Buyer chooses to 'change the dislayed address' to one that PayPal has a record of.

Please advise further as soon as you can as this still does not function as it did before for many years.

OK, here goes more information.

I called and spoke to PayPal UK today myself whilst with my Neice.

Please ignore this statement above:

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++

if the buyer uses the addressed passed to PayPal by WebsiteX5 V14 created link, then 'Seller Protection' is 'NOT ELIGABLE'

The Seller Protection is then only ELIGABLE if the Buyer chooses to 'change the dislayed address' to one that PayPal has a record of.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++

PayPal UK confirm that this is an error on their part in the PayPal email that gets sent to the seller; as when logging into PayPal UK, the transaction is ELIGABLE; and states as such.

So, with 'no_shipping' set to '1', no address information is 'utilized' (or required) by PayPal checkout (no shipping address is displayed).

As far as I can tell (having manually edited the file 'x5cart.js' living on the webserver, with the correct country code "GB" instead of "UK" and "no_shipping" set to '2' and not '1', everything works as it did for years before.

Conclusion: There is a parameter/fault/problem with WebSiteX5 V14

Please advise again.

Hello Chris,

that seems to be a problem of PayPal.It's a paypal error and we can not intervene with the software.

In the text it reads that paypal says that this is a their error.

You need not use the standard code of WebSite X5 but select "custom Code" and add your custom code with istruction by Paypal.

Hello Riccardo.

You read my message wrong, sorry.

Let me tell it to you again...

PayPal error = Their problem with outgoing emails FROM paypal. Because it missing "Seller Eligable" and/or "Seller Not Eligable". Please ignore this.

WebSite X5 V14 error = Passing wrong country code for England and no_shipping=1 to PayPal when clicking the [Buy Now] link created by WebSite X5 V14

I say again, when I manually edit the file living on the web server [x5cart.js] that exported by WebSiteX5 V14, I CAN make it work just by manually putting country code to 'GB' and putting no_shipping to '2'. Then it work good.

Do you understand?

Hello Chris,

I informed the developers about the 2 difficulties you experience and they are verifying them and, in case, fix it in the future updates.

In the meanwhile I would suggest to use the manual editing like you did until there are any news from the developers.

I will inform you here as soon as there are any news.

Many thanks!
