V14: Side Bar - Menu Object Edit Screen - Current Page not working as wanted  en

On the vertical main menu in my side bar, I want to see the following :-

Current page to show red background, mouseover to show grey, other pages no background.

Having set these up within Ver 14, I do a preview and all is OK.

However, after I export the project to a set of files on my PC and then look at the site, the current page does not show red, it remains with no background. Strangely, the mouseover background does show grey.

Can you help please.

Mike.

Did you refresh memory register of your webbrowser? If not press F5 in your browser on your website, then check menu again

Andre,

The diference I am seeing is :-

Between what I can review within Website X5 Ver 14 and then after I have loaded the files into a folder on my PC.

I haven't even got to the point of loading the project onto my web server.

Everything is OK within the X5 review stage, but after copying the project into a folder on my PC, the background colour of the current page menu item is not red as it is when reviewing within X5.

I'm sure F5 is not relevant when you look at the web files copied to my PC folder. However, I did try that anyway, with no change.

Andre,

Before you respond, I need to make you aware of something.

As an experiment, I loaded my project onto my web server, and low and behold the menu items worked correctly.

I have no idea why the project files stored on my PC do not work correctly.

Regards,

Mike.

Hello Mike,

I can't answer that as well. But it works online and in preview, that's most importand.

From pc there could be several issues, I would not bother too much about it. It is better to use preview and test online because then all software needed is loaded for full function.

If you don't want the site to be online and still like to test online you can always create a seperate folder on your webserver and upload there for testing only. Just remember to delete the files when you are done, because you could end up with the test site in search enginges.

Thanks Andre,

Just some more info.

As I have Ver 14 also loaded onto my laptop, I tried the following :-

I opened, previewed, saved the project files on my laptop, then looked at the html files generated, with exactly the same result happening as on my desktop.

I fully accept that the most important thing is that the files are OK when uploaded to the web server, but hasn't anyone else reported the problem on their PC stored files.

I wonder if you could do a big favour for me. Could you try taking a project created in Ver 14 and saving the files to your PC, then seeing if the same issue occurs for you on this menu issue as I am experiencing.

If you find the same thing, then I can regard the problem as a X5 Ver 14 problem and not isolated to my 2 PC's.

Thanks very much indeed if you are kind enough to try out that test.

Regards,

Mike.

Hello Mike,

The current page is only shown when online since it is used the URL you set in step 1 to see on which page you actually are and it won't work with the local files since the URL will not match.

Many thanks!

Claudio,

Thanks for your reply, but a question for you.

The problem never existed in Ver 13. Can I assume something has changed between Ver 13 and Ver 14 to cause the problem with 'Current Page' not displaying correctly.

Also, if it is a URL issue, why do the menu items change colour on mouseover. Shouldn't they be using URL links as well ?

Regards,

Mike.

Hello Mike,

Yes the function changed in Version 14. The on mouse over function is different since it doesn't need to know on which page you are since it identifies only if the mouse is over or not.

Many thanks!
