Website X5 Evolution 14 - Program "Not Responding"
Author: Tristram B.Hello,
I downloaded and paid for Evolution v14 within the last 10 or so days. I'm not new to Website X5, I have previous version installed on an old machine and have been very happy with the previous versions I've used. As I say, I've recently purchased the latest version, installed it on my Lenovo 64-Bit Windows 10 Home Laptop.
I'm having issues with the following:
When updating elements within a page -with the preview window open, either before saving or after saving the project - the entire program freezes giving me the "Not responding" notification.
After leaving the program of 10-15minutes(!!!!!) Nothing improves. Nothing recovers. I'm forced to Kill the program via the Program Manager. This has happened numerous times without any successful recovery. It doesn't feel as though Evolution v14 is ready for consumer release. I need help fixing this problems OR I would like to know how to get a refund of my money as this is not what I've come to expect from Website X5.
Please advise.
Thanks in advance,
TB

If you have imported from V12 and are working on a responsive site, I have found that if I turn off responsive to do the initial tweeking required after import (especially header and footer content) lets me work smoothly, on completion of the major tasks, I then turn responsive back on.
The other trick that may help is to export your V14 site to iwzip, and then import that new iwzip into V14.
V14 offers some great new features, so it would be a shame if you cannot get your project working reliably, but If you feel it becomes necessary to request a refund, simply create a post requesting one, but mark it as private so only Incomedia can see it.

Hello Esahc,
I haven't imported any projects from previous verisons of Evolution.... period. Not since downloaded and installing V14.
I'm using V14, as a fresh, stand-alone install without attempting to import any previous projects. I've not even got to the point where I can save what I'm working on - because each time I make simple, small updates, the program crashes.
In the past, yes I've had trouble free operation of Evolution (I think v10 + v12). But I'm not feeling the same experience with this version. I shouldn't be experiencing problems "out of the box".
For a refund, can you tell me what I need to provide in the Private Message to Incomedia?
TB
TB, Incomedia should respond and assist, hopefully they will know of something that can resolve this problem.
New update - does that alleviate the problem?
Hello T. Bovell,
Please try to repair the .NET Frameworks by following these steps:
Go to Control Panel > Programs and Features > Turn Windows features on or off
Clear the check box for Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.1 and then click on OK. Clear also the check box for Microsoft .NET Framework 4.6 (or 4.7) and then click on OK.
After Windows disables the feature you will need to go back to re-enable Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.1 and 4.6 (or 4.7) and then click ok.
Once done follow also this procedure:
- Open the windows start menu search for cmd.exe and run it with the right click option as Administrator.
- In the Command Prompt enter following command:
lodctr /R
- Press enter
After this procedure was successful test please the program again to see if then it works better.
Please keep me updated.

Hello, I've been away. I will try the above steps and report back. Thanks!
TB, good luck with the repair. Since you last commented we have become aware of an issue with a program called Reason Core Security. If you have this program, remove it from your system and reinstall WX5.

Good Morning!
I don't have the named program on my machine - never have. I completed the steps you sent me and I have noticed a slight improvement with WX5. However I still experience some periods where the program is unresponsive / freezes. It feels less zippy, more sluggish that previous editions. I'm persurvaring with it to find specifically where / when it freezes, I'm finding it does it at various times - when executing various operations. I've not had time to really use the program as much as I would like to be able to come back to you with a CLEAR example... I will keep "testing" and update this asap.
Hello T. Bovell,
Thank you for the informations. If you can notice if it happens with a specific function when you use the program this would be helpful.
Many thanks!
