I have exported from V13 to a new folder and imported this to V14. Now I find all images are missing from the site. In the opening project selection also the template does not show the format / images as it did in V13 (See attached screen shot images)

Andy,

How did you export? You should use export project in step 5 in v13.

Then import that file. (in the project selection of v14)

That should work.

Hi Yes this is exactly what I did. even deleted the converted file first time in case it had corrupted and then did the same proceedure again with the same result. I have two sites and both give the same result

I am afraid that there is a problem somewhere in the project in that case.

I am not sure if you set the preference folder of v14 to the one in v13 and then start the project in v14 if that would work. You could give it a try. I would suggest to make a copy of the folder prior to this test so you can set it back again in case it does not work.

If it does work make a export project in v14, set the defauls folders back and import the v14 project.

You can find the preference folder in the first page of x5 (preference)

Andy & Andre - sorry to be a sticky nose but. . .

Andy, If you import the iwzip back in to V13 (this will not overwrite the existing project) are all the images present?

Hi All...thanks for the replies.

I have now set the projects folder to the one in V13 and all working fine. Can I leave it set to this folder or do I have to do the export ? If so where do I export it to ? This is rather confusing to me I must admit

Andy, the correct steps were, open in V13, export (step5 Export, export project) and save the iwzip where you can find it. Then Open V14, select Import, locate the iwzip file and complete the import.

However, since you seem to have now opened the project directly in V14, you probably can no longer open the project in V13. I strongly suggest you open the project in V14, export it, reset the default folders, then import the project. Hopefully the project will be fine, but my experiance is that directly opening an earlier project has resulted in grief later on in the project.

Good luck.

Hi. I have exported the V14 projects to new folders on my desktop. How do I re set the default folders to import these files back ? Sorry to appear a little dim on this as I have never set any project files on any previous versions before frown. I took a copy of all folders and previous exports before I changed the default folder on the V14 so have all events backed up, and yes you are correct I cant open in V13 now

Cheers

Andy

Andy, many people change the default location of their projects, but if the defaults are set exactly as the program sets them during install, it is quite a good system and easier for us (me) to offer advise.

Assuming you have now created an iwzip file.

When you first run WX5, click on preferences, mine looks like this.

Yours will look similar, but pointing to your documents folder (if there is confusion, open V13, copy the text in the projects folder as above, then open V14, paste it in and change the 13 to 14)

Once you have done this, continue to where you select a project, click on import, browse to where you saved the iwzip file and continue.

This will create your project in the correct place (a folder with the name of your project inside the WebSite X5 v14 - Professional folder, and in the process it should create a clean project free of any bits of code that may be lurking from V13

If you are successful, you may wish to copy the V13 back to the V13 project folder from the copy you made, then if it is ever necessary you should be able to open the project in V13 (this way, if there is any doubt in your mind you can run V13, export, then import into V14).

Hope I haven't confused you too much, if I have I apologise, Andre will be online soon and he can probably offer a better explanation.

Andy, Eshac,

Yeah it's a nasty trick but the only one that sometimes helped me, with this problem. I have informed Incomedia about it and they are looking in to it. (I had some projects where I manually created all images again) But it happens rarely.

And yes Andy as Eshac suggests, you can leave it with no problem at all.

But for future projects it's just better to seperate them but it's no more then that.

If you set it back import the exported project and you will have it in the project folder.

Thanks guy's
