Site pops up as risky, but It is not. http://www.stemfireandems.com/calls.html
I am reduing these guys website. the owner wanted to know if there was a way he could change the information in the website himself. The page above and the firefighters page is a must because of all the changes that goes on. at this point it is a text/call and I can change it. but That may become a pita if he starts text/emailing a lot (this is for non profit so my normal rates do not apply.
Is there a way for them to edit these numbers, maybe add rows to these numbers monthly? or will I have to go in through the software and do it. I have almost all of the wigets purchased (been with ya'll since v13) so I might have an answer and not even know it
Posted on the
Lauren - what sort of message tells you it's risky?
Many browsers now warn that if it is not SSL it's risky - this is a pain and incorrect.
As for them updating a page themselves, this is why I own both evo and pro. Most "customers" can afford evo, so I create the site and pass over an iwzip, and they use their purchased evo package to maintain it (& I occasionally visit or use Teamviewer to fix it up for them).
The only other way I have found is to store a jpeg on the website and call it from wx5 using a tiny bit of html. The user updates the file, saves it as jpeg and uploads it and replaces it via ftp as required.
Others on this board may have a better solution :-)

I think what it is is he is using godaddy. and shared hosting. it says it is a marketing scam and stuff and it points to the DNS server as the problem. He has not bothered changing the servers in the past 3-4 years if not longer.

Also I started looking into the dynimic content stuff, I think I may have found my answer there, but this is new for me so I may just be reading it wrong
Hello LAUREN
You can use the DatabaseViewer-object.
But you have to "rotate" the table
You can create a table in MySql where each column is a month.
The table should have the following columns :
Key ( automatic ) - should be hidden in the setup of the viewer
Year
Total
Jan
feb
Mar
Apr
May
Jun
Jul
Aug
Sep
Oct
Nov
Dec
This way you have a fixed number of columns and you have the headline for the columns.
Then You can have a record for each year.
You can set the viewer up with no editing - this is the public view on the home-page..
Then you can have a restricted page where the same table is shown in a viewer where it is set up that a user can edit and/or insert a record. ( You have to make a key-field in the table to make it editable )
Then normal users can see the table and users that can log in can edit the table.
Then users can edit without the need to have any software.
You can also use the dynamic content, but here you can only have text and images. But it can matybe be difficult to have it look nice.
The database viewer solution will be nicer to look at - I think.
The Viewer solution should be an easy solution. Users can make a sort in the table and can export data to a spredsheet.
Kind regards
