Adding Luxcal sidebar (again)  en

Hi I have been following the question by Anderw L re inserting the Luxcal as a sidebar but still cannot get it to work lol.

I can get a full calendar to show in a webpage but I cannot get it to show as a side bar. I have followed the directions given by John S (thats how I got the full calendar to work) but Im at a loss as to his second set of instructions since parts seem to be in German? He mentions somthing about "visning 1 & 2" and

"display1 kommende.php"

I don't require 2 different sidebars just the 1. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

thanks,

Hello William

The sidebar and the display is much the same but different.

The display is much more sophisticated than the sidebar.

You should use the display. There is two versions of the display - display1.php and the display2.php.

Which one you prefer is for you to decide.

I advice you, to make a copy of the display and name it for the function you give it.

Could be : birthdays club-members next 6 month could be - dispbd6.php

Then you can by editing the the dispbd6.php with an editor as notepad++ give it the styling you want and the selections and so. This is quite easy.

You can see something about the styling of the display here : http://calendarforum.dk/displays.html

Now we come to the placement on your site.

It is simply a selfcontained "calendar" you can set up in an iframe.

This is great for showing the calendar display on a mobile. Here you simply see the dispbd6.php on the whole screen and can swipe up and down in the display.

Setting the display up in an iframe is described here : http://calendarforum.dk/integrating-iframe-x5.html

This is for setting up the calendar in an iframe, but the display is exactly the same :

In the html you could specify :

<iframe id="birthdays" src="http://www.yoursite.com/luxcal/dispbd6.php"></iframe>

And in the expert tab then :

#birthdays { width:90%; height:550px; margin:20px; border-style:solid; border-width:1px; border-color:grey; }

The names and the border and pixel settings is ONLY given as examples.

By the way - there is just released a new version of the calendar that can remind not only by mail but also by sms. And you can let the calendar add a link in the sms - a link to the event. This way it is possible to send a lot of information in one single sms.

Hope you are helped by this.

Hello again

As you write "LuxCal" calendar, I suppose you mean the real calendar you can download for free here :

http://www.luxsoft.eu/index.php?pge=dload

You also write "Full calendar" - I hope NOT you mean the X5-object that INCOMEDIA call "full calendar".

This has not much with a calendar to do. That would be the same that you had an old photo-album. Then someone could also call this a : mobile full HD television device.

Kind regards

John S.

Hi John, thanks for your reply. Yes I have downloaded the luxecal from that same link and installed it into a folder in the root of my webfolder as per the directions of luxcal. I can see the calendar and make changes on my website.

Re your query about "full calendar" no I am not using the incomedia calendar object.

i think I may have been confusing the sidebar with the display. It's the display 2 that I'm trying to get to work.

Thanks,

Hi John, I have re-read your post and now everything is beginning to make sense smile I didn't have the "display" in place. I thought it was just the calendar and a settings problem from within the calendar that was stopping me. I will work in this later and post my results.

Thanks again

Hi John, it worked. I now have it working the way I want on my website. I have gone with the display2 option. I agree it's the best one to use. Thanks for all your help in solving this for me.

p.s. I will mark your earlier post as the one that solved it. You know from my past that I keep getting it wrong wink

cheers

William

Hello William

Great

When using the display 2, you can have an image be a clickable link. When you in extratext1 has the name for image in the thumbnail-folder, and then after the image name, add a URL, then the image become a clickable link for the URL specified. This is just for your information.

You can mark this post as the one that solved your problem.

Then people can see that you had your problem solved and the thread is closed.

If you have any problem with the LuxCal calendar, you can make a post on this forum, on the calendarforum.dk contact page http://calendarforum.dk/contact.html ( this will result in a mail to me ) or on the forum on luxsoft.eu.

Kind regards

John S.
