Hi Andy,

Check the backup directory, which is located in the folder where your project. Are there any backups in the folder? If so, try a backup which could be from before the error occured. My advice is to first make a copy of the complete project folder, just in case.

Succes,

Robert

Andy, does your PC/Laptop get restarted often? If not, please restart because I have seen this error when a Windows Update was pending. Once WX5 v14 is running, select your project, select backup and then select redo as indicated by Rbbrt.

If you have recently exported the project (perhaps tentatively to move to v15?), that iwzip file would be even better in case this turns out to be a major problem.

With X5 is it possible to make an iwzip file from the web site content in the event of all backups being corrupted ? The site is live and working fine, but obviously I cant use X5 now even if I get the program running and the iwzips and backups are corrupted there must be a way to get X5 to read the site without the iwzip or as I said convert the site to an iwzip?

Hope I arent confusing matters.

I have a nast feeling that uninstalling V14 I have lost the files.

I have V13 but this has an old version of site on it. V13 works fine.

I did the V14 update and still no joy. Also the V15 doesn't worj with my site.

Is therte a tech support line I can ring as waiting for posts is loosing me quite a lot of time ?

Thanks in advance for any help...

Andy

Andy, sadly the published website is of no use to WX5 other that as a source of content for you to manually rebuild your site.

Unless you have had a major hardware malfunction or some type of malware attack, I am sure your iwzip files will be fine if you created them, otherwise, we'll hope that the backups are in tact. Uninstalling WX5 does not delete the project files.

Did you download v14 from your profile (top right this page), if not, please do so, if it will not install could you create a new user on your PC and log in to that to do the install - does that work?

You say that v15 does not work for your site, if you tried it you must have exported your site from v14 to try v15? If so, can you run v15 and import that iwzip again? I have moved a number of sites from v14 to v15 and NEVER had any issues or visible changes to my projects.

I have requested the assistance of Incomedia in getting WX5 v14 up and running.

I thought this might be the case. The reason my images were missing is I had to point the default directory to  V13 folder for some reason. I now have V15 installed and have backed up / exported iwzip files to a new folder on my desktop so I now have a backup of the sites... So far all back up and running but even my CD version of V 14 wouldnt wor... not to worry hopefully panic over ... Thanks to all for help and assistance
