Hi,
Version 9 Shipping charges logic is wrong. For the weigh of an item it shoud be= (greater and equal)
For an item weighs 25lbs or greater and for an item 100lbs or greater in a shopping cart customer sees two shipping options. And it is up to the customer wich one to select.
If it was smaller or equal

Recap on my post. We should hava a choice to make the weigh equal, greater or smaller.
I'm not sure to have understood but you can set:
By this way you'll have >= 10 price 2 and < 10 price 1
Author
Ok, I will rephrase it. Example:
I have 3 or more itmes.
Item 1 is 5 lbs meaning >=5 price is $5
Item 2 is 10 lbs meaning >=10 price is $10
item 3 is 20 lbs meaning >=20 price is $20
item 4 is 30 lbs meaning >= price is $ 30
Customer puts item 2 in the basket and goes to checkout.
In this case I have two shipping prices greater than 10
Right before the checkout customer sees three shipping related to the same item. Beacuse item 2, item 3, and item 4 prices are equal or greater than 10 lbs.
Therefore all thre pricing are showing up right after the item. Customer has to make the selection manually. If you leave the selection to the customer he or she may not select the right shipping charges.
If there was an option = only
I can set:
item 2=10 lbs shipping price is $10 therefore only one shipping charge matches the customer's selection. Therefore customer sees only one shipping charge and it is automatically selected for the customer.
If my explanation is not satisfactory please try simulating 4 items and 4 different shipping charges as above. if not I will do a test site and let you see.
Best Regards,
Yes.. not sure to have understood.
Just let me tell you one thing: the shipment costs works in this way:
Customer buys Prod1 (2 copies) and Prod2 (1 copy).
The shipment cost WSX5 will ask to user will be for the total amount of the weight and not set for any single product.
So it is: 2x15 + 20 = 50lbs
Hope this is clear for you, let me know.

Hi Steve,
Here is a test site for you.
http://www.gurtan.net/test/
Try to buy every product only in quantity of 1. Tell me what you see.
Try to buy one at a time.
You will see 2-3-4 shipping options at the bottom of the shopping cart and tell me which one customer is going to select manuallay. :)
Item 1 $100, - 10lbs $ 10 shipping.
Item 2 $200, - 20lbs, $ 20 shipping.
Item 3 $300 - 30lbs $ 30 shipping.
Item 4 $ 400 - 40lbs $ 40 Shipping.
Best Regards,
Vedat
mmm.. probably it is too late
Do you mean you can solve just hiding the options that have no costs (-) so users cannot select them? Could be the correct solution for you?
Author
Hi Steve,
I can not hide anything. Because the same item falls into the different weigh category all of them shows up. That's why I said logic was wrong.

Vedat
We created this system thinking to have just one shipping method related to the weight and not more than one as you are doing.
I mean that a possible solution that should fits your need, is that WSX5 automatically hides the shipping cost if this is zero. Can you confirm? In this way I can set it as a suggestion for one of the next update

Hi Steve,
I am not sure I understand you clearly.
I only have one shipping method, not more. It is Fedex. But I have pieces that weigh different lbs as you see at this example. I have no zero shipping cost.
If an item is 10 lbs I charge $ 10
If an item is 20 lbs I charge $ 20 etc.
My suggestion couple of months ago was to be able to attach a fixed shipping cost to an item.
Best Regards,
Vedat
I'm sorry if we are taking many posts about that, but I can assure I'm trying to follow you.
The correct settings for that should be to enter only one shipping mode with this value:
Relating to your message above. If I buy 2 items of 10lbs I'll pay 20$... so it works!
Right?
Author
Nope
I am buying one item only. If my item is 30lbs and greater. I am charging $ 30.
If the item is 10lbs or greater I am charging $ 10
if the item is 20lbs or greater I am charging $ 20
If the item is 30lbs or greater I am charging $ 30
If the item is 40lbs or greater I am charging $ 40

Hi Steve,
Please go to http://www.gurtan.net/test and buy whatever you like how many you like. You will se no matter what you do shipping charges do not work.

Vedat
Hi again! I don't think your website is correct becuase the end user can view more than one option and he doesn't know which one he has to choose.
In my test here (www.websitex5.co.uk/_st/cart), there's only one choice and the price is automatically changed related to the products ordered.
If I order 2 "Prod 1" or 1 "Prod 2" I always has to pay 20$.
This is the way we planned to use the shipment price options... Let me know
Author
How can my test website be incorrect? I have done it with V9.
No, I mean that it's not correct just because your 'customer' cannot know which shipping price he has to choose... this is only my idea.
In my test, the shipping price are modified automatically and the 'customer' can only choose one option.
Let me know.

I give up!
Unless a fixed shipping price for a specific item is introduced or per lbs. shpping charge is introduced shipping charges will not work for me. I have tried everything. Not every item is shipped for the same price nor several items for the same price.
Currently with V8 I am charging $ 105.- for every item. at http://www.gurtan.com
It is a handicap just to have a single shipping charge. Some itemes are oversize, some are 35lbs, some are 50lbs, some are 30lbs and oversize. With all these actual shipping costs I can only have a single inacurate shipping charge.
I was hoping this could be resolved with V9, but not so far.
I've got a new idea that probably may help you. In the software we set the lable Weight, but you can use it for any other measure you want (ie: US gallons, square inches, etc)
Let me explain. Normally a Express Courier set the shipping prices relating to 2 factors: weight and volume. To simplify the process the only use one single factor and it's the solution for you.
You told me you have 30lbs but also 30lbs oversized so the solution is:
Prod1 -> real weight = 30lbs, normal size ; WSX5 weight = 30lbs
Prod2 -> real weight = 30lbs, oversize ; WSX5 weight = 45lbs
Hope this could be good for you!

Hi Steve,
That's actually how I planned to differentiate the shipping charges. But it is going to be the same thing. Several products are going to fall into the same weight/volume category, and same product will fall into same weight/volume category, and people will not know which one to chose from.
Please add = (equal to) or please add a fixed shipping price per product option with the next update. That way I will stop bothering you.
Happy to finally understand the issue!
Ok, I'll save this in the ideas
Author
Please don't just save it in the ideas, this is really important. If you save it, it will never happen. I have to add the shipping charge to the price of the product and offer free shipping. But I am afraid I will scare some customers away. They are going to think product is over priced.
Also per lbs shipping charge will solve the problem.
I can just save it sorry . I cannot assure you this could be done in the next update and so very soon. This type of feature is not 'light', even because we need to change different settings on the User Interface adding a new value for 'volume' together with 'weight'.
I think that the correct solution is to convert the 2 factors in only 1 factor, and use this 'score' to set the correct price as I suggested you above.
I agreewith you.It is imperativeto haveanoptionofshippingbyaticle.Imagineweare trying toalign ourdelivery pricesin different countries.Ifyou could addan optionproduct:price, TVAand SHIPPING COSTS that could beputfor EACH product.
I sell a product that requires no shipping at all , How do I switch shipping method off please
Hello Garth, this is not present in this version now. We save this as IDEA for the next release....
Can we have an option for a buyer to choose multiple shipping options in one transaction, ie. if a buyer buys a number of items for a delivery to a certain area, the shipping charges for the area are calculated, but since the delivery address is a Rural destination, an additional surcharge per item also applies hence requiring the buyer to choose a cost for the shipping area as well as the additional Rural surcharge. Currently he can only choose one option.
Hi Les, yes this could be another Idea we will consider for the next update/upgrade.
Actually I can suggest you to insert more shipping modes, so the user will choose the one related to his Country. For example: national shipping and international shipping.
Thanks.
