Where is X5?  en

Website X5 is not a cheap product in this day and age. It does some things very well and I like the fact that I can run the program on my PC and then upload to my server. That is great.

But it is falling well behind the edge in two respects:

1. It does not enable instant downloads of digital products. There is no way that I would have bought X5 in the first place if I had had to enter my credit card details and then wait for authorisation before I coudl down load the program. That is just not acceptable in this day and age.
When we purchase a program or facility on line, we expect to be able to download it instantly - or by return of email.
X5's continualled ignorance of this requirement is totally unacceptable.

2. Stripe is fast becomoing oneline payment facility and this integration should be built into X5. Many people will accept paypal - others won't. With a product nearing $200, this integration whoudl be built in.

I shan't be paying for any update until these two problems are solved and I am even thinking of migrating from X5. I certainly could not recommend it to anone at the moment.

Please give this some serious thought X5 and do not just sit on your laurels. Bigger giants than you have gone out of business by not listening to their customers.

X5 is a good tool for creating websites. But even if you have the PRO-version, the shop is not.

For a PRO version it should be possible :

- When creating websites for customers, these customers should be able to maintain products, prices and other information themselves. The customer should not need to ask a webmaster or a webbuilder to insert a new product, or to change a price.

- Digital products should have a download link ( and prices ) for each combination. Meaning - if you sell e-books it should be possible to have a download link for an English version and a download link for a German version - for the same product. If it is photos/images you are selling, it should be possible to have the same photo in different resolutions and in different formats - with different prices and download links ( for each combination ) but you should only have one item ( one book and one image ).

- It should be possible for users to make a payment and then ( and not before then ) the order should be accepted. This way a user could buy an e-book ( or an image ) and seconds after he has made the payment, a download link should be sent to the customer.

These are things that should be in a PRO version for creating a web-shop. If you are a user with some skills for building websites, and you have your own webshop, then you can use X5 for that. If you are a webdesigner that creates websites for customers that has a webshop, you cannot use X5 - not even the PRO version.

The PRO version is not cheap and if you have to invest in e-commerce software beside that, then you are forced to look somewhere else.

I think it is a good question : Has INCOMEDIA plans for a real PRO web-shop ?

Hi Duncan,

I already answered you at https://helpcenter.websitex5.com/en/post/192682

Please refrain from opening multiple topics on the same matters. If we can contain all the information on a single one, it will be much easier for everyone to follow

Thank you

Stefano
