  • Text box bullet list. If using a dark background with say white text the bullet points and numbers don't change to the text colour as would be expected. Is this a limiation of the program or not?

This has been a major failing of WX5 for as long as I have used it, and there are many mentions and requests to fix this over the years which have all fallen on deaf ears.

However, you can change the colour of the bullets by changing the default page text colour in step2Template, Text and field. If you choose to do this, be warned that this will retrospectively change text apparently at random across the rest of your website and  it will set the bullets (or numbers) and list to the same colour.

WX5 has a number of long standing minor irritations, the failure of Incomedia to fix this one simply problem makes my blood boil!!!

Somebody will almost certainly come forward and add a post with a small amount of very simple code to overcome the problem, it is a simple problem, I just don't see why we have had to put up with it since at least v8.

Sorry.

... you could use the Table Object in two columns;
... in the small column on the left insert the image or the graphic symbol (●)   and to this you can assign measurements and color that you want, and in the right hand column the text related to the point ...

(IT) ... potresti usare l'Oggetto Tabella in due colonne;
...nella piccola colonna a sinistra inserire l'immagine o il simbolo grafico (●) ed a questo puoi assegnare misure e colore che vuoi, e nella colonna di destra il testo relativo al punto...

Tables are not reponsive sadly.

I have resorted to laying out the cells on a page to emulate a table.

This is responsive, and the "bullets" can be dropped to be a simple list at lesser resolutions.

Thanks for your feedback. A bit sad really that the developers choose to ignore this. I'm still playing with this program and am not yet fully committed as I'm experiencing a few other program malfunctions.

I'm interested in Don's last comment.

I switched to X5 Pro from an authoring tool that was called Blue Voda - It was a great package but non responsive and with no plans to upgrade.

I considered Wordpress, but decided X5 was easier - allows working offline, and the community seemed very supportive with quick replies.

So I have redeployed our main web site with X5 - and I'm quite happy with the results so far - but I too have run into a handful of problems with X5 objects not working as advertised and other issues that X5 can't deliver.  I also find the project files very large vs the web page size.  My current project is about 305MB for 273 web pages.

So I'm interested in hearing what other publishing products people may be considering other than X5??

Adrian

abthermal.com is the site done in X5 - a 2 month project converting from firesleeveandtape.com  if you want to see the results.

Adrian, it would surprise me if anyone posts alternative packages here, primarily because WX5 users have normally come from other packages (WX5 is better/easier/faster/more reliable/etc :-)

I see that you have posted a number of questions - this is the correct way to get support both from Incomedia and other users. If there is functionality you require that is not included in WX5, again post the question/requirement here - if there is a workaround someone is bound to reply.

If you think your existing website is a bit bloated, you could try running Optimiser through it. This will reduce the size of each image so that it is optimised for display. https://www.websitex5.com/en/utility.html
