Testimonial object and how to use

I brought the testimonal object thinking it would allow visitors to add comments on how they liked the product. But it seems you add the comment yourself? Is that correct?

Yes that is correct.
To be honest I thought also that people can add comments themeself, but unfurtunatly it's not.
You can use the standard comments and ratings object for users comments on your website.
The testimonial is nice but you need to gather the information yourself from customer's.

You are right: this Object is meant to be used in order to report your visitors' reviews with a nice graphic, but you are the one who has to choose and report the comments.If you want your visitors to leave comments on your website, then you should use the Comments and Ratings Object, which is already included in the software.
