Questions about Shopping Cart & Purchase Options  en

Hello,

I am posting to the forum because I have a question regarding multiple download link options for different purchase options regarding Website X5 Professional.  Here is my question below:

* Is it possible with Website X5 Pro, to allow a customer to receive a different download link if they purchase a different Main Option choice?  For example, I create Basic, and Premium as main option choices.  Basic costs $15, and premium costs $30.  If a customer buys the $15.00 option, they would get the regular download link that I could create now.  However, if a customer buys the $30.00 option, is there a way to create and have the customer receive a 2nd download link or a different email message regarding their purchase?

Wasn't sure if this were possible with X5 to allow the customers who buy Basic to only download Basic and get the email for it, or for those who buy Premium for a bit more, to receive the right download link and email information related to that option.

Thanks in advance.

Hello German

There is only one download link per product.

That also means that you can NOT sell a photo, where you have the photo shown and have different options for the photo.

That could be the resolution : 5181 x 2920  and 800 x 451. Instead of having this as one product you have to have 2 products.

And if you have an image in 3 different resolutions and in jpg and png format, then you have to have this as 6 different products - even if it is the same product.

Same goes for books. If you have the same e-book in 3 different languages, then you have to have this book as 3 different products.

As it is now, the shop is not for professionals. It can only be used for small amateur shops, where the owner of the shop also is the person that is the webmaster - or a good friend.

You cannot create a shop for a customer where the customer himself can maintain products and prices - and you cannot have download links for sub-items.

The shop is rather good for a one-man-shop that sells physical things.

But you should be aware of, that there is no check of the payment.

This is two different things. When it comes to the physical things, you can simply ( manual ) check if payment has been done before shipping the products - when it comes to the digital download, you have to manual check that payment has been done, and then process the order to let the customer be allowed to download.

If you are not present in let's say in 3 days, then it will take 3 days before the customer can download what he ordered and paid for.

You can find many posts about the ordering flow, payment handling and digital downloads here in this forum.

I like the system, and also the shop - BUT - I also want to tell about the things that you cannot do. Things that you would normally think should be in a product ( that claims to have e-commerce )  that is called PRO.

Thank you John and Wsx5.afsoftware.fr, I appreciate it.  Yes, I have unfortunately seen some of the posts that have complained to the developers of WSX5 with hopes that they would change the shop setup to be more helpful for those running e-commerce shops, especially with some of its issues (such as the customer receiving an order number before they even click Buy Now), or the issues with only one coupon code allowed (merchants should be allowed to create more than one coupon code, some for members, some for holiday sales, some for special promos, etc) or as mentioned by you John, the issue of only having one download link altogether when there are e-commerce shops that would sell more variety of items in either different resolution as you mentioned, or books, or in my case, an mp3, or a WAV file, or a combination of both into one zip file for the instrumentals that I sell.

I saw someone mention using OpenCart and integrating it into WSX5 so I'm looking into this now to see how I could possibly go about doing this, though not sure if it would work or not.  The other thing that irks me about WSX5 is that there's no way to cleanly incorporate an mp3 player for each product other than inserting HTML code into the description box of each item, so this can make the site look a bit sloppy in some ways.  I really liked the editor I used to use, EZGenerator, but they have since shut down and no longer offer support and it is not very compatible with mobile devices as it is an older software before being phased out... otherwise, I would've remained with them as I liked their shop setup and its use of Strings to pull data from a database and apply it onto the website versus being limited with the way the catalog items are setup.

I appreciate the links wsx5.afsoftware, I'll check them out as well.  Appreciate everything!
