Hamburger menu problem X5 START 16.3.1
Author: Richard K.I have successfully created a simple but useful website containing around 12 pages, using Website X5 START, version 16.3.1. (The website address is www.oxfordinterventionalradiology.co.uk)
The menu consists of 7 buttons at the top of each page, and I would like to replace this with a Hamburger Menu, which I understand is an option in this version of the software.
Within the Template Contents pages, I have reduced the size of the Menu Item in the page header, and adjusted font sizes, and, as expected, the displayed Menu Item within the header on the Template Contents page has changed from a series of buttons into a Hamburger Menu Symbol.
My problem, however, is that when I preview the site by clicking on the "eye" button, this Hamburger Menu is not visible.
Can you suggest an explanation?
Richard, could the problem simply be that v16 Start is not responsive?
Whilst your website will be viewable on a mobile or tablet, it will not be optimised for these devices.
I do not have v16 Start to test this sorry, but if you download a trial of v16 Evolution, does that meet your needs (highly recommended :-) ??

Many thanks for your comment and recommendation. I suppose in due course (unless someone points out a simple error I am making) I shall have to try the free version of Evolution as you suggest, and then (if it works) upgrade to the full version (to get around the 10-page limit). However, it does seem very surprising that the START version 16.3.1, which has served me well so far, would allow me to generate a hamburger menu on the Template Contents page, but not display it in the Preview. If it was intended that the hamburger menu option should be suppressed, I wouldn't expect to find the tools to generate it in the Template Contents.
Richard, is it possible that the whole menu object is not in the header? Check this by selecting the menu and make sure all 8 handles are within the header area.
As I said, I do not have access to start, but would also be surprised if hamburger menus do not display. I have marked this post for Incomedia's attention (although with luck someone cleverer than I may offer the answer in the interim)
Hi Richard.
I can definitely see that the hamburger menu is no longer visible when shrinked in the Template Content section too.
I've forwarded the matter to the developers so that they might take a further look at this.
I will be sure to notify you here as soon as there's news on this
Thank you for your patience
