start screen is too large to see all of the screen. Important items, such as the start button, are off the screen on the right hand side and therefore invisible. I did get it to display properly once after leaving my pc turned off overnight, but it soon reverted back to this problem. NB the name of my website is irrelevant since I cannot get the system to build one.

Have you set an enlargement in Windows?
If the font size is more than 100%, the program window may be larger than the image area in Windows
Which Windows version do you use? What is the screen resolution?
What is the font setting in Windows.
Can you push the program window or make small to get to the right side of the window?
Under PC Settings - System - Display, see the Windows values.

Brian, my PC screen does this when I start the PC with the screen turned off or disconnected, but it could also be your monitor is dying (not telling Windows the correct resolution) or your video card is on the way out. Please make sure the monitor cable is plugged in securely at the PC and the screen. This is the details to do exactly what JJ said assuming you have Win10

If you are using Win10, right click anywhere on the desktop and select Display Settings, if you have custonm scaling turned on, either turn it off or move the slider. If this is not the issue, click advanced display settings, choose a higher resolulion and cliuck apply, if the screen goes black don't panic, wait 12 seconds and it will return. If you do get a higher resolution that works, click keep changes.
